It’s Birth Trauma Awareness Week.

We live in a time where a lot of birthing people are unfortunately not being fully supported — often let down by outdated guidelines, underfunded services, and a system that doesn’t always hear or respect our voices.

It’s said that at least 1 in 3 women experience birth trauma. That doesn’t include the wider circle of birthing people, birthing partners, and even medical professionals who witness traumatic births regularly.

But talking about it isn’t easy. You might feel like you shouldn’t be upset because:
“Others had it worse.”
“Baby’s here and healthy — that’s all that matters.”
“It’s just one bad day.”
“Worst pain, but quickest forgotten.”

But even when things look “fine” on paper, how it felt in your body and mind is what truly matters.

It can be:
🤍The feeling of being ignored or dismissed
🤍Guilt and shame, like you failed before you even started
🤍Trying to care for a tiny baby while processing something huge
🤍Fear of ever going through it again
🤍PTSD, bonding struggles, and grief for the experience you thought you’d have

We see you.
And we know it’s not “just one day.”
Sometimes it lingers. Sometimes it changes everything.

Whether your birth was straightforward or complicated, however you brought your baby into the world — your voice matters. Your trauma is valid. Your story deserves to be heard.

Healing doesn’t have a deadline. 💛
