🐿️ Psssst... Have you heard the news? 👀

We're excited to announce that this October we'll be opening a brand-new Squirrels section!

Squirrels is the first step in the Scouts adventure, giving 4–6 year olds the chance to make new friends, learn new skills, explore the outdoors and have loads of fun along the way.

📅 Our Squirrels Drey will meet every Friday from 5:15pm to 6:15pm during term time.

Keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks for more information on:
- How to sign your young person up
- How you can get involved as a volunteer

We can't wait to welcome our very first Squirrels this October! ⚜️🐿️

We need some help at our Fundraising Events this week, with our Marquee Crew.

No experience needed. If you're available for a couple hours Thursday (30th) evening (18:00-20:00) or Sunday (2nd) Morning (10:30-12:30), please drop Lee an email via [email protected] or message this page.

We are putting the funds raised towards some new Camping Equipment, which our Young People will directly benefit from, including our upcoming Summer Camp to Wales!

Our Scouts this weekend had opportunity to take part in Cambridgeshire Scouts Scout Activity Weekend at Boyd Scout Campsite & Activity Centre

Activities included:
Paddle Boarding 🌊
Archery 🎯
Air Rifles 💥
Pedal Go-Karts 🏁
Backwoods Cooking 🥧
Escape Room 🧩

And lots more!

Thank you to both our Leaders and the volunteers from Cambridgeshire Scouts who made this event happen.

We also had time to chat with our Scouts about our upcoming Summer Camp to Wales in August, it's going to be a great week! 🙌

On Friday we held a Group Awards & Celebration Evening, with excellent attendance by Young People & Parents.

It was a great opportunity for parents to hear about our recent Group Camp & what we will be getting up to across the next 12 months. More info to follow on that.

It was also an appropriate time to reflect on our fantastic Volunteer Team, 3 of which were recognised with Length of Service Awards & 1 for Good Service.

Theresa was recognised for 20 years Service, all of which has been to Beavers in Milton.

Alex was (belatedly) recognised for 5 years service. Alex is part of our Beavers to Baige club, having been a Beaver, Cub, Scout, Explorer and Leader at 50th.

Andrew was recognised for 5 years service, having joined our Beaver team in recent years following being involved in Scouting elsewhere previously.

Tom received his Chief Scout Commendation Award for Good Service. Tom, similar to Alex is part of the Beaver to Baige Club.

Tom has held numerous roles in the Group including most recently being our Group Lead Volunteer (shared with Rob). Tom makes everyone's volunteering experience easier, leads from the front and balances his Scouting volunteering alongside starting a family & a busy work schedule. He's also incredibly popular with the Young People.

Our Group wouldn't be in the fantastic position that it is, if it wasn't for these 4 volunteers.

Thank you also to Rob (Group Lead Volunteer) and Chris (County Lead Volunteer for Cambridgeshire) for joining our Awards Evening.

50th has an exciting year ahead planned.

🇵🇱🎉Jamboree Summer Fete - Sunday 5th July!🌍⚜️

Members of Unit 16 (some being our Explorers) will be holding a Jamboree Summer Fete tomorrow, Sunday 5th July! Everyone is welcome to pop down to the 28th Scout Hut for a fun-filled afternoon!

Don't forget to come along and support our Cambridge Participants tomorrow!

🍦 It's going to be one hot week! ☀️
Luckily, our Explorers have done the hard work and researched the best ice cream in town! They visited six different shops and scored them on:

✅ Cost
✅ Speed of Service
✅ Friendliness
✅ Taste
✅ Variety

After plenty of sampling from Jack's Gelato, Spoonstruck fans, Dulcis, Aromi Benet's & McDonald's, there could only be one winner...

A huge well done to all our Explorers for carrying out the survey so professionally (and for bravely eating all that ice cream in the name of research! 😄).

⚽ A huge thank you to Waterbeach Scout Group's Explorers for joining us for a joint 5-a-side football tournament this evening!

It was fantastic to see Explorers from both units mixing together, making new friends, and enjoying some great football. There was some superb play on display from all the teams with some good sportsmanship throughout the evening.

Thank you to everyone who took part. We look forward to meeting up again soon for another joint activity! ⚽🙌💛❤️

Our Cubs visited Cottenham Community Fire & Rescue Station where Roger, Steve and James talked about fire safety and then gave us a tour of 'Sq**rt', the fire appliance stationed in Cottenham. Thank you, gentlemen, for an informative and enjoyable evening!

🇵🇱🇬🇧Good luck to Alex, one of our Explorer Leaders, who is fundraising for his trip to the World Scout Jamboree in Poland after being selected as a member of the International Service Team (IST).

Alex will be at Waterbeach Feast all day today, raising funds towards this incredible opportunity, and we wish him the very best with his fundraising efforts!
