A reminder about this !! Happening tonight, and every fortnight from now on, in the Bridgetower Room. Drop in and spend an hour or two on a creative project, or start something new. We have arts supplies to borrow, alongside refreshments to get the inspiration flowing. Poetry, painting, writing, journaling, sketching, or just doodling - all welcome. One rule: nothing academic! Can’t wait to see you all at our first event of term!
— Ismene, Martha and Laurie, your new Hesperides presidents for this year :)

Thank you all for supporting the Hesperides Society this year!

Proceeds from our Zine and event ticket sales have helped raise over £100 for National Star College in Gloucestershire, a leading specialist further education provided for young people with physical and learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries. It is a charity that is very close to our hearts, so we are incredibly grateful to everyone who purchased a Zine and attended our annual dinner and final talk, without whom such a donation would not be possible.

Swipe to read more about our donation and for a photo recap of this year’s events. As we hand over to next year’s presidents, we wanted to say a massive thank you to all those who helped make Hesperides such a vibrant community. It’s been great fun and we’re excited to see the society go from strength to strength in the years to come.

Luke, Aaron and Sarah :)

Preorder Hesperides’ Zine ‘The Crescent’ today!
This issue contains work responding to the theme of ‘(dis)articulations’ - exploring the presence and absence of expression in all its forms. Principally, we are interested in how different writers and artists choose to articulate or not; in their deception or truth-making; and in their methodologies of articulation and expression.

Zines cost £3 each and are printed on luxury Italian paper; they can be collected from Trinity Hall’s Bridgetower Room during Exhibition hours on Fri 7th and Sat 8th March. Order yours now at the link in bio!

Free tickets to see The Laramie Project at the Cambridge Union - limited spaces available!

The Hesperides Society is running a trip to see The Laramie Project, a groundbreaking piece of verbatim theatre: The Laramie Project is a 2000 American play by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project about the reaction to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming.

In 1998, Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming was found tied to a barbed wire fence in the town of Laramie, Wyoming. His murder brought international attention to hate crime legislation, and inspired legislation across the United States at the state and federal level.

The Laramie Project explores the depths to which humanity can sink — and remains as important as ever to this day.
