We at Lunar Eclipse are feeling incredibly grateful today... The Leo Lion Foundation has written a beautiful article about us, our story, our herd and the quiet magic that happens here every day!

From Luna’s arrival in 2021 to the wonderful people and horses who now make up our little sanctuary, the article captures the heart behind what we do and why this place means so much to so many.

If you’d like to read the story behind Lunar Eclipse through someone else’s eyes, you can find it below. A huge thank you to the Leo Lion Foundation for seeing our herd the way we do — with kindness, hope, and a whole lot of love!

Born from one woman's dream and a single horse named Luna, Lunar Eclipse has grown into a thriving equine wellbeing organisation in the heart of the Scottish countryside. Through the unique connection between people and horses, it supports children, families, adults with disabilities, and those livi...

💌 A Letter to My Grannie 💌

Dear Grannie,

I don’t know if horses are supposed to write letters.

We are usually much better at saying things with our eyes, our hearts and the occasional kiss.

But if I could write to you, this is what I would say.

Every time I see you, I feel happy.

I know I am supposed to walk politely across the field, but I get a little excited and before I know it my feet are moving faster than they should. Being an Arabian cross means I have a rather dramatic streak, and when I see my grannie, I simply cannot help myself.

So across the field I come.

Ears forward.

Tail high.

Looking for you.

Because I know what comes next.

My kiss. 💛

The humans laugh and say I always give you one.

They are right.

I do.

What they don’t know is that I remember.

I remember the kindness.

I remember the belief.

I remember the people who saw something special in me when I was still young and finding my way in the world.

Long before there was a Hoofgang.
Long before I touched the hearts of others.

You and Grandpa looked at me and saw something worth believing in.

When my life had been difficult and the world felt confusing, you gave me something I didn’t even know I needed.

You gave me my mummy.

You encouraged her to take me under her wing.

You saw what we could become together.

The truth is, Grannie, my mummy understands my brain when others don’t.

She never tried to make me be something I wasn’t.

She listened.

She learned.

She accepted every part of me, from the spirited Arabian who sometimes finds life a little overwhelming, to the horse who just wants to feel understood.

Because of her, I found my place.

Because of you and Grandpa, I found her.

That is why I come running when I see you.

That is why you always get a kiss.

It is my way of saying thank you.

Thank you for seeing something special in me.

Thank you for believing in me.

Thank you for giving me the greatest gift of all.

My mummy. 💛

And just so you know…

I will still expect a banana, a cuddle and to be told that I am that extra bit special.

After all, some traditions are far too important to change.

All my love,

Henry 💛🐴

✨ P.S. Don’t tell the others, but I think you’re my favourite grannie in the whole world.

✨ A Special Kind of Trust ✨

To be able to sit beside a horse while they are lying down is something truly special.

This beautiful young lady got to experience exactly that with Teddy. 💛

Teddy didn’t mind one little bit. He was perfectly happy sharing his space, enjoying the company, while also keeping one ear tuned into what some of the Hoofgang were doing behind him. 🐴👂

Horses are remarkable creatures, and moments like this remind us just how much they communicate without saying a word. When a horse chooses to lie down near you, they are showing a level of comfort and relaxation that is a privilege to witness.

💡 Fun Fact!
A horse’s ears can rotate almost 180 degrees independently of each other. This means Teddy could listen to the young lady beside him while also keeping track of his friends behind him at the very same time. It’s one of the many ways horses stay connected to the world around them.

Moments like this are quiet, simple and easy to miss, yet they often become the memories that stay with us the longest.

✨ Where Love Becomes the Moment ✨

If you would like to spend time with our wonderful Hoofgang, we’d love to hear from you.

❤️ The Grandparents Behind the Dream ❤️

This is a long video, but if you have a few moments to spare, we hope you’ll watch it until the end.

Father’s Day can be such a difficult day.

For some, it is a day of celebration. For others, it can bring sadness, reflection, longing, or memories of those who are no longer here. Every journey is different, and every feeling is valid.

As Father’s Day draws to a close, Cherene wanted to share a small glimpse of her private life and the people who helped make Lunar Eclipse possible.

The herd love their grandparents so much. ❤️

Perhaps it’s because, in their own way, they know the story.

Because if Cherene’s parents had not encouraged a little girl who loved horses with all her heart, Lunar Eclipse would never have existed.

The Hoofgang would never have become a herd.

Many of these horses may never have found the life they have today. A life filled with freedom, friendship, purpose and love.

They would never have become part of something bigger than themselves. They would never have visited care homes, schools, hospices and communities. They would never have brought comfort to those who need it most.

And countless people may never have experienced the quiet magic that only a horse can give.

The truth is, without Cherene’s mum and dad, there would be no Lunar Eclipse. They encouraged the dream, supported the vision and never stopped believing in a little girl whose happiest place was always with horses.

So perhaps when the herd rush to greet their grandparents, stand beside them in the fields and follow them wherever they go, it is their own way of saying thank you.

Thank you for believing in the dream.

Thank you for helping create a place where horses can simply be horses.

And thank you for helping build a herd that changes lives every single day.

Moments like this remind us that every dream begins somewhere. Sometimes with one little girl, two supportive parents and a love of horses that never faded. ❤️🐴✨

Behind every dream is someone who quietly believed it was possible.

Today, we celebrate not only the bond between a daughter and her parents, but the extraordinary connection between a herd and the grandparents they adore.

Because without them, there would be no Lunar Eclipse, no Hoofgang and no thousands of moments where love became the moment. ❤️🐴✨

🌼🐴 Two Little Girls, One Friendship 🫏🌼

What do some little girls dream of?

For some, it’s horses.

For others, it’s donkeys.

How lucky are we that at Lunar Eclipse, they don’t have to choose. 💛

Watching two little girls spend time with the herd recently was a beautiful reminder of what childhood should be.

No phones.

No social media.

No pressure to be anything other than themselves.

Just friendship, laughter and imagination.

Making daisy chains.

Running through fields.

Sharing secrets.

Stopping to stroke a horse or cuddle a donkey.

Filling their pockets with treasures only children can find and carrying hearts full of hopes, wishes and endless possibilities.

Sometimes it feels as though the world moves far too fast. Screens demand attention, social media tells children who they should be, and every day seems busier than the last.

But amongst the herd, time slows down.

The donkeys don’t care how many followers you have.

The horses don’t care what brand of trainers you’re wearing.

They simply ask you to be present.

To breathe.

To explore.

To play.

To remember the magic of being a child.

Watching these two little girls surrounded by horses, donkeys and nature reminded us that perhaps the greatest gift we can give our children isn’t more technology or more things.

Perhaps it’s simply the space to be children.

To dream.

To imagine.

To be kind.

And to believe that anything is possible. ✨

💛 Sometimes the best childhood memories are made with muddy boots, daisy chains and a donkey by your side.

🐴✨ Listen to those little hooves… ✨🐴

Teddy and Molly recently visited Northcare Edinburgh Suites, bringing with them gentle hearts, curious noses and the kind of quiet magic that only horses seem to carry.

This is the point where the camera stops.

As Teddy and Molly walk through the doors, our filming ends.

We never take photographs or record inside facilities where vulnerable people are receiving care. Those moments belong to the residents, their families and the staff who care for them so beautifully every day.

What happens beyond this point isn’t for social media.

It’s the smile that appears unexpectedly.

The hand that reaches out to stroke a velvet nose.

The memory that returns for just a moment.

The conversation that begins.

The tear, the laughter, the connection.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments are never captured on camera. They are simply felt.

And whilst we would love to show you what happens next, some moments are far too precious to share with the world.

They belong to the people experiencing them and to two very special little horses whose tiny hooves leave the biggest footprints on people’s hearts.

If you would like a visit from a member of the Hoofgang™, whether for a care home, hospice, school, community group or special event, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Every visit begins with a gentle introduction, but often becomes so much more. A conversation. A memory. A moment of connection that stays with people long after the little hooves have walked away.

☀️🐴 Summer Moments with the Hoofgang

Moments like this, especially during the summer months, are truly special.

Standing in the fields, surrounded by a herd of the most incredible horses, there is a sense of calm that is difficult to put into words. The everyday stresses, worries and demands of life seem to soften and drift away as the Hoofgang quietly welcomes you into their world.

These two best friends are well known and very much loved by the herd.

As everyone enjoyed the sunshine together, Eeyore made his way over to Ellie and gently rested his head on her back.

No words were needed.

Just a quiet moment that seemed to say:

“I know you.”

“I trust you.”

“I’ve missed you.”

Perhaps that is one of the greatest lessons horses teach us. The most meaningful connections are not always spoken aloud. Sometimes they are found in a gentle touch, a shared moment of stillness, and the comfort of simply being together. 💛🐴

✨ If you would love to experience the Hoofgang for yourself, get in touch.

It’s difficult to explain the feeling of being surrounded by a herd that chooses to spend time with you. The peace, the connection and the quiet magic of simply being present amongst them is something that has to be experienced to be understood.

You never quite know what you’re missing until you’re standing in a field, surrounded by horses, and realise the rest of the world has fallen silent for a little while.

✨ We have something very special to share with everyone… ✨

This week we received our official British Equestrian Business Awards Finalist logo and, if we’re honest, we’re still pinching ourselves.

To be named a finalist in the Diversity Award category is an incredible honour and recognition of everything our herd, team, volunteers, supporters and the people we work with represent.

Lunar Eclipse was built on the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, valued and included. Whether you are young or not so young, whether you arrive with a diagnosis, without a diagnosis, or simply needing a little space to breathe, our gates have always been open to you.

To whoever took the time to nominate us, thank you. You may never fully realise what that nomination means to our team.

Our herd don’t know anything about awards. They simply show up every day as themselves, teaching kindness, patience, acceptance and connection. 🐴🤎

To stand alongside so many incredible organisations as a finalist is something we are immensely proud of.

Whatever happens next, this little logo represents something much bigger that this little microscopic company has been recognised .

It represents every person and business who has walked alongside us on this journey and every life that has been touched by a member of our Hoofgang™.

Thank you for believing in us. 🌙✨
