BLOCKED BADGER SETTS AND BLATANT HUNTING AT THE MIDDLETON

Yesterday we found the Middleton Hunt meeting at the later time of 12pm at Westfield Farm, just outside Norton-on-Derwent. With knowledge from previous times they've done this meet, we strategically positioned foot teams by the dismantled railway and hey presto - huntsman Jason O'Donnell took this hounds straight to us.

In the field behind the meet we also came across an artificial fox earth - used by the hunt to breed foxes and there are foxes in locations they hunt. Yet more evidence that 'trail hunting' doesn't exist.

From then, our two foot teams tag-teamed the hounds as they headed south through Langton and towards Birdsall, where a gorgeous fox was fleeing the hunt (pictured). We let them pass, and covered their scent, making sure they made an escape.

Hounds went into full cry a few times around the Middleton's favoured haunts of Birdsall and Mount Ferrant, chasing one poor fox in a large circle around the area. We believe they got away but sadly can't be 100% sure. Another fox was also chased from some scrub just behind the kennels - quelle surprise.

Numerous blocked badger setts were found in the area around Birdsall. The hunt do this to stop foxes from taking refuge in them. They were duly unblocked by sabs to ensure foxes would be able to escape down them and also that the badgers inside won't suffocate inside as they attempt to dig themselves out.

Last Saturday we headed all the way up to County Durham to hit the Zetland Hunt. As we arrived, Teesside Anti Blood Sports - TABS were on the scene as hounds were speaking in Gainford Great Wood, just outside of Darlington.

However, when we made contact with the hounds, the huntsman zoomed off, trying to get some distance between us. And this was the theme of the day - the hunt constantly running away from sabs, only making half-arsed attempts to draw coverts quickly before we caught up.

During the day a beautiful fox (pictured) came running past us away from the hounds. We gave them space to continue running, then headed towards the hounds to ensure they didn't follow.

We put in a lot of miles on foot, keeping the hunt constantly moving. A very successful day!

We saw this fox to safety today from the Zetland Hunt up in County Durham today.Full hit report to follow!

This Valentines Day we thought we'd spread the love to the Hurworth Hunt who we found meeting at the aptly-named Foxton near Crathorne.

With two quads of terrier men in tow, huntsman Stevie Cook put his hounds through Foxton Fox Covert, before drawing the surrounding woods on the banks of the River Leven.

It seemed Cook's heart wasn't in it today though, as the hunt (a grand total of just 13 riders!) kept to a very small area and between ourselves and Teesside Anti Blood Sports - TABS, we made sure Crathorne's foxes remained safe.

With sabs on his tail and an eye in the sky, the game was soon up and the hunt packed up at the deliciously early time of 2pm! Result.

We remember our fallen comrades as two very different activists: one who was just starting off on his journey into animal liberation, and another who had seen and done it all.

Today we found the Middleton Hunt meeting in what is their usual Wednesday country, at Scackleton.

With two foot teams deployed between ourselves and West Yorkshire Hunt Saboteurs, we were able to keep tabs on huntsman Jason O'Donnell as he blatantly searched for foxes to kill around Wiganthorpe and Scackleton. Hounds went into cry around Low Moor Farm and as we approached we came across a huge, very active badger sett that smelt very strongly of fox. We hope the poor animal managed to seek refuge in there.

Working eastwards, O'Donnell drew Great Plantation but to no avail, before heading north. We were then joined by reinforcements in the form of Ryedale Hunt Sabs who were with the hunt near Hovingham High Wood. It was here that the hounds rioted on a deer, mauling the terrified creature before moving off. This was reported and we were told by police that a fi****ms unit was dispatched to put the animal to sleep. Is no animal safe from these killers?

A few more attempts at finding a fox were made with little luck for the hunters, as sabs tailed them back to the meet as it got dark.

Secret footage allowed a UK-first prosecution to be brought against him.

Yesterday we again headed to the Middleton Hunt who we found meeting at Firby, North Yorks. With zero pretence of doing anything other than illegal fox hunting, the first covert that huntsman Jason O'Donnell went to, to search for foxes was Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's Jeffry Bog Plantation.

After trespassing in the nature reserve, the hunt continued to draw the usual other woods around Firby. From there, they high-tailed over to the Leavening area where they got onto a fox chasing it over Hanging Hill and through The Woodland Trust's Guild Wood.

Our foot team put in some serious miles keeping up with the hounds. Great team work between us, West Yorkshire Hunt Saboteurs and East Yorkshire Coast Hunt Sabs meant despite covering a huge distance, the hounds were never too far from sabs.

Hounds once again went into cry for a long time around Mount Ferrant, following a poor fox for ages around the many woods and over the many hills there.

Again packing up as darkness set in, it seems the Middleton Hunt's bloodlust is never satiated.

Yesterday, we joined with many other groups to hit the Middleton Hunt in solidarity with York Hunt Sabs and East Yorkshire Coast Hunt Sabs. Earlier this week a supporter of the Middleton launched a cowardly attack against two female saboteurs, hospitalising one of them.

After meeting at Wood House Farm in Acklam, the hunt headed east and began the first of many blatantly illegal attempts to hunt foxes. We spotted a very tired fox (pictured) heading away from the hounds. Waiting for the fox to pass us, we covered its scent, making sure the hounds didn't continue to chase this one.

Huntsman Jason O'Donnell tried exceedingly hard to kill, putting his hounds through thick elephant grass, scrub and the many coverts around Scrayingham and Skirpenbeck. Many more foxes were seen and aided to safety throughout the day as great teamwork between the many sab groups made us very effective.

With bloodlust unsatisfied, O'Donnell continued to search for foxes into complete darkness, ultimately coming to the realisation that we'd well and truly ruined his day.

The Middleton Hunt know the clock is ticking for their cruel pastime.

Respect to York Hunt Sabs, East Yorkshire Coast Hunt Sabs, West Yorkshire Hunt Saboteurs, Lincoln Hunt Saboteurs, Liverpool Hunt Sabs, Manchester Hunt Sabs and Staffordshire Hunt Sabs for a highly successful day.
