It's never too early to start getting ready for winter.

When it comes to gas safety, it's better to get your checks done sooner rather than later.

Some simple checks you can do to ensure you're all safe for winter are:
✅ Check your gas appliances have a crisp blue flame
✅ Check your vents are not blocked
✅ Check your carbon monoxide (CO) alarm is working

Now is also a good time to get your boiler and gas appliances checked by a Gas Safe Register if you've not had a service in the last 12 months.

If you don’t have a smart meter, remember to submit your readings before or on Wednesday, 1st October, so; your supplier has an accurate reading. If you can switch to a deal cheaper than the October price cap, now is a good time to make the change.

Ofgem have announced a Price Cap rise from the 1 October 2025, the energy price cap is set at £1,755 per year for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay by Direct Debit. This is an increase of 2% compared to the cap set between 1 July to 30 September 2025 (£1,720).
