Fahad Tabassum
Born 23rd August 2004 fell asleep 18th August 2005
Fahad almost reached his first birthday.....
He was born with hydrocephalus at 34wks gestation at UCL hospital London. He then went on to Great Ormond street Hosp

ital for surgery at 10days old to relieve the pressure on his brain and had a VP stunt inserted. Fahad came home a month later and was extremely loved by his family. In the coming days, every feed time was a challenge as he struggled to grasp the technique of sucking and swallowing therefore over time he was tube fed and further went on to have a PEG (Gastrostomy) fitted. At the age of 4 months (13th December 2004) he smiled for the first time, we were so happy and felt blessed but this was so short lived as later that same day he started to shake uncontrollably. Ambulance arrived, he was taken to our local Watford General Hospital where he was admitted and started on a course of epileptic drugs. Over the next few months we spent more and more time on Starfish Ward. His medical condition worsened and drugs list increased and we were introduced to Keech Hospice Care. Here we received much needed care and support not just for Fahad but the rest of the family too. On his third visit to PICU at St Mary's Hospital he had an MRI which showed Brainstem Migration Defect and treatment was withdrawn. He fell asleep forever in my arms at 13:45 18th August. We will forever be grateful for all the care and dedication provided by all professionals involved in our darling son's extremely short life especially Keech Hospice who were always by our side and supported

Fatima Tabassum
Born 7th February 2006 fell asleep 4th February 2013
Fatima almost reached her 7th birthday....
Fatima was also born same as her brother, with hydrocephalus and had further investigation to diagnose many medical conditions , some of which include, septo-optic dysplasia, epilepsy, recurrent respiratory collapse and apnoea. At birth Fatima was initially given 24hrs to live which increased to 6 months and later to 2yrs. At 22months after 3 consecutive respiratory collapse, Fatima was admitted to Keech Hospice as a end of life patient. Amazingly she recovered without any intervention and came home safely. We were then told that any further hospitalisation could be fatal. Fatima then spent the next 18months without any need for hospitalisation and therefore her DNR was revoked. At the tender age of 4yrs old Fatima attended Breakspeare School in Abbots Langley. Her Teacher Sophia Rook was absolutely superb!! Sophia, with the assistance of all the fabulous staff, transformed Fatima into an intelligent young girl who developed skills that we thought she could never achieve. Fatima began to enjoy life so much more. Her pleasure was so visible. Fatima, with her smile and laughter was able to mesmerise all who met her. She had the ability to capture ones heart at a glance. Fatima went on to have many admissions to hospital and to the amazement of all medical staff, Fatima would make a full recovery. Eventually her call came and Fatima fell asleep 15:45 4th February, just days before her seventh birthday. Not a day goes by that we don't think of you both. Rest in peace our gifts from Heaven!!
