Kitchen Kit Giveaway Brings Community Together!

On Wednesday 19 August, Whitefield Live Well Centre were delighted to host the Kitchen Kit Giveaway event in partnership with Cracking Good Food, organised by Bury VCFA.

The event brought together community groups and public service organisations from across the borough to collect donated kitchen equipment and give it a new lease of life. With more than 100kg of items redistributed, the initiative helped reduce waste while supporting local organisations and residents.

💙 Let's Live Well: Stronger Spaces Fund Grants of up to £1,000 and £20,000 are available for VCSE organisations based in Whitefield (Besses, Pilkington Park and Unsworth) that are helping strengthen their local neighbourhoods.

⚽ LET'S Get Bury Moving Coach/Officials Education Bursaries Bursaries of up to £100 are available to help VCSE organisations develop coaches, officials and volunteers involved in community sport and physical activity.

💙 Could your organisation help make Bury more cancer aware?

The Let’s Live Well & Get Cancer Clever Fund is now open, with grants of up to £2,500 available for local VCSE groups.

We’re seeking community-led projects that help:
• Raise cancer awareness
• Tackle inequalities in access to information and support
• Enable people to live well with and beyond cancer

We are especially keen to hear from organisations that have trusted links within their communities and can engage people who may otherwise miss out on health information and services. Together, we can create welcoming spaces for conversations, support, and positive change.

Have Your Say on Bury’s Draft Housing Strategy!

Bury Council is consulting on its draft Housing Strategy, which sets out the borough's long-term vision and priorities for housing over the next 10 years.

The strategy has been developed by arc4 consultancy, using evidence of local housing needs and engagement with partners and stakeholders. They are now seeking wider feedback to help ensure the final strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of Bury's communities before it is considered for final approval by Cabinet.

Over the last year, Making Smoking History has worked with eight voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations to develop and test the new Greater Manchester Smokefree Spaces Toolkit.

Join this free webinar to hear first-hand experiences from organisations that have successfully created voluntary smokefree outdoor spaces, helping to make their environments healthier, more inclusive and welcoming for staff, volunteers and local communities.

Whitefield Welcomes New Live Well Centre!

We were delighted to attend the official opening of the new Whitefield Live Well Centre on Albert Road on Sunday 16 August, marking an exciting step forward for health, wellbeing, and community support in the area.

The centre was officially opened by the Mayor of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, who cut the ribbon during a celebration attended by local residents, community groups, and support organisations.

The event brought together people from across the community, providing an opportunity to explore the services on offer, connect with local organisations, and learn more about the support available through the centre. It was fantastic to see so many residents getting involved and building new community connections.
