Dear Donors,

Ramadan Mubarak!

We are thrilled to share an update on our first project, launched last Ramadan, aimed at providing scholarships for primary school education to orphaned and underprivileged village children. Thanks to your generous donations and zakat contributions, we not only met but surpassed our initial goal! We aimed for 10, but we actually managed to raise sufficient funds to offer 12 scholarships, Alhamdulillah!

In December, we identified the 12 recipients through a meticulous selection process, ensuring each child met our criteria for both financial need and educational potential. This diligence ensures that they are well-placed to complete their education up to high school level. We are pleased to report that all the children began their new school term in January 2024, embarking on a journey that promises to brighten their futures.

For safeguarding reasons, the identities of these children must remain confidential, but should you wish to learn more about our selection process and operational policies, we kindly invite you to contact us directly.

We have enjoyed operationalising our inaugural project, and have found it a good learning experience on our journey to establishing our family-run foundation. We apologise for not being able to give you more regular updates until now, due to unexpected delays in Bangladesh, coupled with pressing family matters here. We aim to provide more timely communication in the future.

We have decided not to initiate a new project this Ramadan, though we hope to do so later on in the year. We do, however, remain open and grateful for any form of support you wish to extend, be it a general donation, sadaqah, or zakat. We deeply appreciate every contribution, understanding that it represents not just financial support, but a shared belief in the transformative power of education. Your partnership in this journey fills us with gratitude and fuels our optimism for the future, and together, we are making a significant difference, turning the tide for education in Bangladesh one child at a time!

With heartfelt thanks and warm wishes for a blessed Ramadan,

The Gafur Foundation Team

Our first campaign is to raise £5,000 to be able to put 10 children through high school in our ancestral village in Bangladesh.

With our 100% donation policy, that's £500 to educate each child for 5 years, and to potentially change that child's life forever, inshAllah.

We would really appreciate it if you could donate as much as you are able to for this worthy cause. We have checked that zakat money is acceptable for this cause.

There are more details about our story on the JustGiving page, and please don't hesitate to contact us if you wish to know more about what how we are planning to use the money raised.
