CHARITY AWARDS GRANTS TO EIGHT BURTON ORGANISATIONS
ONE of Burton’s oldest and most important charities has recently authorised charitable grant support to eight organisations in the town which serve the community handing out a total of £38,033.
The Consolidated Charity, which has a long and proud history dating back to the 16th century regularly provides substantial grants to key organisations as well as responding to individuals in need and supporting young people with education bursaries.
Consolidated has given grants to churches, village halls, sports clubs, theatre groups and many more organisations in the town as well as providing white goods, carpets and other essentials for individuals and families who have fallen on hard times.
The most recent recipients are:
Burton Community First Responders - who provide life-saving care to critically ill patients in advance of an emergency ambulance attending.
Bright Futures Un-Ltd - who deliver a range of workshops and projects working with children and older people in a supportive way to help enhance emotional well-being whilst creating a safe place where everyone can be themselves and encourage them to nurture a sense of self-worth and belief.
Burton Competitive Music Festival - which operates a Bursary Scheme to support local young people with the costs associated with personal development, education and training in the performing and creative arts.
Eagle’s Nest Project - an alternative education provider working with those unable to access mainstream education often as a result of early childhood trauma, working with young people to overcome their anxieties and fears in order to help develop their educational success.
Burton Amateur Swimming Club - which is solely run by volunteers and has swimmers competing in county, national and regional competitions taking swimmers from the age of seven and teaching them the life skill of swimming.
Burton Hazara Society - promoting social inclusion for members of the Hazara community fostering relationships and a sense of belonging, forging community bonds and participation in local activities.
Asthma Relief - dedicated to improving the quality of life and care of children and adults who live with asthma and other chronic respiratory illnesses by providing equipment donation and a support service.
Burton and District Beekeepers' Association - working to preserve the honeybee by promoting and encouraging the craft of beekeeping, educating members and the wider public in the importance of the survival of the honeybee and the benefit of bees in the environment.
The Consolidated Charity’s Chairman Ben Robinson said: “The charity provides a vital lifeline and is here to support residents and organisations when they need it the most and we are delighted that we have been able to support these eight organisations."
