The Burnside Parent Council is a group representing parent views, working in partnership with pupils, the headteacher and local authority to achieve the best for children attending Burnside Primary School in Rutherglen, Glasgow. Amongst its roles, the Burnside Parent Council:
• supports the school in its work with pupils
• represents the views of all parents
• encourages links between the school a

nd the wider community
• reports back to all the parents in the school
• organises extra-curricular activities and after-school events
• organises fundraising events for the greater good of the school and all its pupils

🗓️ Friday 12th June 🗓️

Pupils are welcome to wear anything representing SCOTLAND, including Scotland football tops (no individual clubs please) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽️

Ice cream will also be a offered to kick-off summer celebrations thanks to P7 and Parent Council fundraising 🍦

📚 LAST WEEK OF LIBRARY 📚

This week is our last week of the school library and we’ll only be COLLECTING books 🧑🏼‍🏫

If you find any from earlier in the year, please bring them along to your child’s library day or just hand over to their teacher any day that suits 🤲🏼

It means we can get the library all wrapped-up for another year 💫

Thank you to all the parent & grandparent helpers for their time this year, we couldn’t run the library without you 🤩

Please drop pupils at the front entrance with £3 cash (no card machine available) 💰

It’s best not to bring jackets as there’s no cloakroom to leave them and can easily get lost 🧥

For pick/up, please wait at the back door near the climbing wall and your child will be brought out to meet you 🏫

Please DO NOT PARK IN GLENLUI AVENUE, as with general parking guidance and, if dropping and picking up with car, park sensibly around the school with consideration of our neighbours 🚙

If your child has a phone can we ask them to leave this at home so they can be present for the hour with their friends ❌📱❌

A drink and a snack is included in their £3 🥤

We have a couple of requests for the night;

🪩 Some football decorations to help celebrate rate the Scotland Football Mood! These could be specific to football or maybe some flags of countries taking part 🌍

Please drop anything into the school office before Thursday 🏫

🤗 THANK YOU 🤗

A huge THANK YOU to everyone part of our Annual Car Boot Sale 🚙

We did move it indoors due to the unpredictable weather so we are grateful we could do that ☔️

What were your favourite bits? Here’s some of ours 🤩

We raised a fabulous £1,000 today which all goes towards improving our children’s school experience 👦🏼👧🏼

We need to put out a special mention to the following …

Mark, our school janitor for his help in setting up and having the school ready for us 🏫

Everyone who took a stall to sell their items 💸

To those who helped set-up indoors very quickly at the last minute and to clear the school to have it clean & tidy again🧹

The very kind girls who donated their takings to the Parent Council 🤩

Everyone who helped out at various stalls (tuck shop, home baking, ice cream & pre-loved uniform) especially our pupils who worked really hard today 👧🏼👦🏼

Those who handed in baked goods for our stall 🍰

And Dougie the Pigeon for coming along to join us for the morning 🐦

A hugely successful day all round 👏🏼

Here’s hoping Mr Sunshine sticks around for our CAR BOOT SALE this Saturday! ☀️

We are hoping to offer some delicious HOME BAKING at our tea, coffee & tuck shop stall 🧁

👩🏼‍🍳 For any budding Mary Berry’s 👩🏼‍🍳

We’d be delighted to have your baking donations on Friday at 3pm or on Saturday morning before the car boot sale starts 🙏🏼

You can drop these onto the school office 🏫

✨ P6/P7 Track & Field ✨

A huge congratulations to our Burnside Track & Field Team who competed at the CamGlen Athletics competition last week.

Unfortunately no pictures taken on the day as the rain nearly washed us out!!

But a valiant effort to compete in such difficult conditions.

A tally of medals brought back to be very proud of… and, as always, displaying the best of Burnside with your teamwork, attitude, support and spirit!

Our athletics teams across the year have shown what it means to be a member of and we are so proud of all of you!

Closing the book on another incredible year of athletics and we are already excited for what lies ahead come August!

But for now… Team Burnside signing out 🩵

In order to offer some pre-loved uniform options for up & coming P1 visits we are asking for any good condition items you may have 🙏🏼

These are roughly aged 4, 5 and 6 sized 👦🏼👧🏼

All items are welcome but in particular BLAZERS and polos, jumpers & cardigans with SCHOOL BADGE 🏫

You can hand these items into the school office 👕
