This coming Sunday at 2.30pm Bude Canal & Harbour Society are holding their AGM in the Willoughby Gallery at the Castle Heritage Centre in Bude. In the morning at 11am there is a talk by David Thorn 'Thorn photographs and more'. David is a member of the Thorn family who were pioneering photographers in and around Bude in the 19th century. There will also be an exhibition about Captain Peter Herbert whose campaigning in the 1950s and 60s stopped the Sea Lock and Canal Basin being filled in. The morning is open to the public - donations welcomed.

Another go at tracing the railway laid from Ocean Caves around to underneath Compass Point to transport stone when the breakwater was rebuilt in 1839. It can be traced by several iron-stained drill holes in the rock and in places by surviving iron pins.
