This is so good to see. We can't wait for the Haddenham-Thame Greenway to bring similar benefits to our communities. Well done Buckinghamshire Council for getting the Misbourne Greenway built - we're looking forward to an announcement of progress on our project soon!
Duncan (pictured left) and Joe both live near the newly opened Misbourne Greenway in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire. They use the traffic-free path for both work and leisure.
They work for a community interest company based just off the Network, called Road Farm Countryways, which helps young people access the countryside.
Duncan said: “This path is a safe space, and we can take advantage of it to provide another activity for us to do - not just cycling but walking too.
“We have people who physically cannot walk across three ploughed fields but can walk across this path. It increases confidence.
“The path is going to be a fantastic way of getting people who, for various reasons, would never ever consider cycling on road, they simply couldn’t face that challenge.
“There are a lot of people who come to Countryways who would never even attempt to ride on the road amongst traffic, they have higher coordination challenges, danger perception challenges.
“Joe’s never ridden on the road; his coordination on a bike is challenging, so having the trikes and being able to come on here, it’s safe, familiar and comfortable.
“We have a lot of young adults who’ve had their confidence knocked for various reasons and this path is another way for us to help build their confidence in different way.”
