Caring for the Community, One Check at a Time

Many people see the community defibrillators located throughout our area, but few realise the ongoing work required to keep them ready for when they are needed most.

Members of Brynmawr Rotary Club regularly inspect and maintain the defibrillators that we have helped install throughout our communities. These routine checks ensure that batteries remain in date, pads are serviceable, cabinets are functioning correctly, and each unit is ready to be used in an emergency.

A defibrillator can make the difference between life and death during a cardiac arrest. Every minute without treatment significantly reduces a person’s chance of survival, making quick access to a working defibrillator absolutely vital.

While we all hope they are never needed, we take great pride in knowing these life-saving devices are available for our communities 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Behind every defibrillator is a commitment from volunteers who give their time to ensure the equipment is maintained, monitored and ready to help save a life.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported our defibrillator projects over the years, whether through fundraising, donations, hosting a unit, or simply helping us spread awareness.

Together, we’re helping to create safer communities and giving people the best possible chance in a medical emergency.

❤️ Because when seconds count, having a working defibrillator nearby can save a life.

🌟 What a busy week for the Brynmawr Family of Rotary! 🌟

Our amazing Rotaractors have been busy helping to keep our foodbank shelves stocked, while our dedicated Interactors rolled up their sleeves to sort and date donations ready for distribution. 💙

This is what community spirit looks like – young people and volunteers working together to support those who need it most. 👏

While we’ve unfortunately had to take action this week to prevent a small number of people from misusing the support available, our team remains committed to ensuring that every donation reaches those who are genuinely in need.
Your generosity makes a real difference, and we’re proud to protect the integrity of the service for our community.

Thank you to everyone who donates, volunteers, and supports our work. Together, we’re making a difference every day. 💙

Our Interactors were delighted to see the rose they planted in memory of Hywel Axford bloom so beautifully. A touching reminder that the impact of a life dedicated to service continues to grow and inspire future generations.

Hywel's legacy lives on through the young people he encouraged and the difference they continue to make in our community. We’re sure he would be immensely proud. ❤️

🌍💙 Friendship, Fellowship and Shared Purpose 💙🌍

This week, members of Brynmawr Rotary Club had the pleasure of welcoming a very special guest President elect Josh from the Rotary Club of Nakaru, District 9215. His club manages many aspects internationally via zoom! So although Josh lives in Wales - technology allows his leadership in Kenya.

It was a fascinating and inspiring evening as we learned more about his community, the challenges and opportunities within the region, and the fantastic work being carried out by his Rotary club to improve lives and support those most in need.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Rotary is the opportunity to build friendships across the world, and our speaker reminded us just how much we can learn from one another. Through sharing experiences, successes and ideas, we discovered many common goals and values despite being thousands of miles apart.

The evening sparked exciting conversations about how our clubs could work together on a future international project, combining our efforts to make an even greater difference to communities both at home and abroad.

We look forward to strengthening the friendship between our clubs and exploring what we can achieve together in the future.

Rotary truly shows that when people come together with a desire to serve, there are no limits to the good that can be done. 🌎✨
