We had a great, slow time training session yesterday - practicing search planning, off-road driving, searching, casualty care, a bit of steep ground work, and cas evacuation. A really good opportunity to keep pressing the pause button and discuss how and why we do things.
Big thank you to our almost invisible casualty Duncan (he's in the fist picture somewhere).
Plus a guest appearance by a reptilian friend who seemed to like the warm surface of our vacuum mattress.

Cumbria Police contacted T/L about a job in Keswick 2 hours prior to this job, T/L assisted them with a comms issue.

Then Cumbria Police requested assistance in searching for a missing person in Eskdale. Wasdale MRT deployed alongside neighbouring Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team, LDMRSDA search dogs, and drones to cover allocated areas within the valley.

One of the LDSARDA search dogs located the missing person in his tent. The police then took care of him, and all MRT resources were stood down.

Yesterday team members marshalled The Fred Whitton Challenge with four team members taking part in the event too!
While we were marshalling two serious crashes occurred and needed our assistance. We wish the riders a speedy recovery.
A big shout out to the passing family, and especially their young son, who helped out dealing with the second incident. You were a superstar!
Around 2500 riders participated in this event which helps raise funds for the team.

Thomas wants to raise money for the team!
A few weeks ago he had to be rescued by us after taking nasty tumble on on Bootle Fell. Well he's climbing back on his bike to raise funds for us - an incredible thing to do!
Please support Thomas's ride if you can, and/or share this post.

We were called out on Monday afternoon to a report of someone who had broken their ankle descending Hoad Hill in Ulverston. Though a relatively urban location it had happened on a steep, loose path in a fairly difficult location, and between a lot of gorse bushes.
The casualty was treated on site by team doctors, given pain relief , then stretchered down to an ambulance.
We wish them a speedy recovery.

**************************
We are still fundraising for a permanent base to replace the two industrial units we rent. The build is well underway but has doubled in cost since 2019. In 2025 our wonderful supporters raised another £130000. Any more donations would be appreciated.

The team are on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and have been since 1962. We cover an area of approximately 655km², are all unpaid volunteers, and as a charity we rely on donations to provide the service we do.

If you can, please consider supporting the team and making a donation by clicking the ‘Donate’ button on this page. It’s quick, easy, all money donated comes directly to the team, and is very much appreciated.

Thank you for your support from all of us here at
