Mental Illness Is Not Different 💙

We rush to comfort someone with a broken leg,
but we distance ourselves from someone with a broken spirit.

We take time off for fever,
but tell people with depression to “just snap out of it.”

We bring food to the sick,
but avoid those battling anxiety because we don’t know what to say.

The truth is—mental illness is not different from physical illness.
Both cause pain.
Both require care.
Both deserve compassion.

You wouldn’t tell someone with asthma to “just breathe.”
So don’t tell someone with depression to “just be happy.”
You wouldn’t blame a diabetic for needing insulin.
So don’t blame someone for needing therapy or medication.

Healing the mind is as important as healing the body.
Until we treat both with equal care,
many will continue to suffer in silence—not because they are weak,
but because the world made them ashamed of their pain.

Let’s break that silence.
Let’s make compassion our first response—not judgment.

💜 Because mental illness is real.
💙 And every kind of pain deserves to be understood.

So, this year 6th June, marks FIVE years since we lost Dick 😔

We continue to raise funds for Mind as mental health is so important.

Dick ultimately never got the level of support he needed, when, he needed it most. Mental health resources are stretched and there is still a long way to go to be able to provide better support at points of crisis.

For a variety of reasons, we decided not to do the Cashmore Cup this year but we will return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, as mentioned above, we continue to raise funds for Mind and this Sunday, my daughter Charlotte Rose will be running a half marathon in Manchester in memory of her Uncle with her fundraising going to Mind.

I am reaching out to everyone to back her and pledge whatever donation you can to her sponsor page. See below.

We are not far off reaching our £50,000 target for money raised in Dick's memory.

Please dig deep and as always, thank you to everyone for your valued support and friendship!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help Charlotte Nock raise money to support Mind

Victims of trauma can struggle with self worth. I know I do.
Mindfulness is an excellent tool for healing.
