Westmeria Counselling Services

Westmeria Counselling Services We were established in 2003 to help people in crisis, or just in need of support, with an emphasis on depression.

There are times when we all need a little help…. We are primarily a voluntary organisation, serving the local community. We were established in 2003 to help people in crisis, or just in need of support, with a particular emphasis on those suffering from depression. It is our aim to reverse the trend of reliance on anti-depressants. Our professional, qualified counsellors offer counselling on a don

ation basis, helping to make such a vital service both affordable and accessible. Each session lasts for 50 minutes and there is an upper limit of 24 sessions. We also offer mental health support in the work-place, by offering workshops and employee counselling to companies.

From Level 2 to qualified. 🌱

Sadie started her counselling training with Westmeria not quite knowing what to expect. What she found was an informal, supportive environment where her confidence had room to grow.

Along the way, she found more than qualifications; she found a diverse group of students, meaningful connections, and a real sense of belonging.

By the time she completed Levels 2, 3 and 4 and qualified last year, it wasn't just a training course she'd finished. It was an experience she now recommends to anyone wanting to understand themselves and others better.

"My training with Westmeria was an incredibly positive experience."

Most of us have had one - a moment when someone really listened and something shifted.

Counselling training is about learning to hold that kind of space intentionally, reliably, and safely.

At Westmeria Counselling College, our CPCAB courses bring together counselling theory, personal development, and practical skills in an environment where students genuinely feel supported:

βœ” Level 2 Counselling Skills - building the foundations
βœ” Level 3 Counselling Studies - deepening theory and practice
βœ” Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - training for qualified work

If counselling training has been on your mind, September 2026 could be the right moment to start.

πŸ“š New Level 5 Attachment Theory Course – Starting September 2026

Are you a qualified therapist looking to deepen your practice? Our approved Level 5 Attachment Theory course could be exactly what you're looking for.

This programme is built around relational depth. You'll explore trauma-informed therapy, classic and contemporary attachment-based theory, approaches to loss, su***de and rupture, as well as diversity, spirituality, ethics and mentalisation-based techniques – and much more.

By the end, you'll be equipped to work at service level C, with the confidence and insight to work at greater depth with clients (and with yourself).

Perfect for therapists who love learning, want to grow their practice, and are curious about their own process too.

August has a way of sneaking up on you. β˜€οΈ

The holidays might not be over, but that "back to normal" feeling is already creeping in.

If this summer hasn't felt like the break it was meant to be - you're not alone in that.

Money worries, loneliness, family pressure, routines slipping - August isn't always the easy season it's sold as.

You don't need a crisis to reach out. Sometimes "a bit off" is reason enough.

We're here to listen, whatever that looks like for you. πŸ’¬

A lot of people put this off.

They think they need more confidence first, or more life experience, or a cleaner sense of where they're heading.

But some of the most thoughtful students we see are the ones who've been through something - who've had to figure out how people really work, including themselves.

Our CPCAB Level 2 Counselling Skills course is a starting point, not a finish line. It's designed for beginners who want to:

βœ” Build real listening and communication skills
βœ” Develop self-awareness
βœ” Explore whether counselling could be a career
βœ” Learn in a warm, supportive environment led by experienced therapists

From Level 2, students can progress onto Level 3 and the Level 4 Diploma - at their own pace.

September 2026 applications are open now.

We've just sat down and gone through our numbers for the first half of the year.

Between January and June, 200 new people walked through our door - or picked up the phone, or filled in a form and asked for help.

That's not just a number. That's 200 moments where someone decided things needed to change. Where "I'll just get on with it" turned into "actually, I need to talk to someone."

Here's the breakdown:

πŸ‘© Female: 69%
πŸ‘¨ Male: 30%
🀍 Prefer not to say: 1%

We'd love to see that split shift as the year goes on. Because we know there are more men out there who've been putting it off, telling themselves it's not bad enough to ask for help yet.

If that's you, or someone you know - this is your reminder that reaching out is what those 200 people already found out: it's the hardest part, and it's worth it.

We're halfway through the year and here's to making the second half count, for anyone still deciding to take that step. πŸ’¬
