A great day earlier this week when we were able to distribute Message in a Bottle bottles to people coming and going in Huddersfiel HRI. We are able to give almost 200 bottles away. A great community initiative which was well received. Lion President Ken and Lion Steve are pictured and were supported through the day by Lions Bert, Chris, Maddock and Paul.

Santa and Holme Valley Lion Stuart outside Morrisons in Meltham on the run up to Christmas. It was great to see so many people at Morrisons, Coop in Holmfirth and Hinchliffes Farm Shop when we were there with Santa during December. Thank you to all the children who came to say hello and thank you to all who made a donation. We managed to raise £3000, all of which will be donated back by the Lions to needy cause in our local Home Valley community.

This week has been the Lions Hunger Week of Service and we are delighted that we have been able to support 3 local Food Banks. The Full Life Church Food Bank, Holme Valley Food Bank and Meltham Food Bank. We have been able to give each Food bank vouchers and products to the value of over £1000 each. It's great that we are able to support our local community in ways like this.

Each year we work with Holme Valley Foodbank to provide books for children at Christmas. The Holme Valley Food Bank does a great job in the local area providing food to families and individuals who are struggling financially. Over the last few years, thanks to your incredible help, we have provided over 300 books for the children of families using the food bank.

If you purchase a ‘Buy a book for a Child’ we will choose books to go into Christmas packages to hopefully bring smiles on Christmas morning.

Please note that we do not take any profit from this, all of your money will go towards providing books at cost price.

It keeps getting better...

Gill from Holme Valley Lions called today with a huge donation of much needed women's products. This guarantees that we'll continue supplying them for all our clients. It's something of a personal crusade for Gill. She knows what it's like to struggle to buy them for her family. She doesn't want others to be in need, and nor do the Lions.

Recently, one in five women and people who menstruate find it difficult to afford. It's called period poverty, and it's a thing. It can result in using makeshift products, or longer wear times.

You're a lifesaver !
