A huge thank you to Wahl for their wonderful donation to Thanet Disabled Riding Centre! 🐴💚

We were delighted to receive some fantastic doggy goody bags, which will be greatly appreciated, along with a set of brand-new clippers for our ponies. Keeping our ponies comfortable, healthy, and looking their best is such an important part of their care, and these clippers will be put to very good use.

As a small charity, donations like these make a real difference and help us continue providing riding opportunities for our amazing riders each week.

🎉🎂 Happy 38th Birthday, Smartie! 🎂🎉

Today we celebrate our wonderful Smartie, who turns an incredible 38 years old! ❤️

Smartie has been part of the Thanet Disabled Riding Centre family since she was just 4 years old, giving us 34 years of memories, laughter, and a fair bit of Shetland-sized attitude!

Originally, Smartie was brought to the centre for our toddler group. However, she quickly made her feelings known that little children and the toys from the toy shed were definitely not for her! 😂

Thankfully, Nora saw Smartie’s true talent and decided to train her for carriage driving instead. From then on, Smartie became a much-loved driving pony, helping countless wheelchair users enjoy the freedom and joy of being around horses.

These days, Smartie still enjoys the finer things in life, especially her morning cuppa tea, which she insists on every day! ☕🐴

Thank you, Smartie, for your years of service, your cheeky personality, and all the smiles you’ve brought to so many people. We are so lucky to have you as part of our family.

💚 A Huge Thank You to Gemma! 💚

Everyone at Thanet Disabled Riding Centre would like to say a massive thank you to Gemma, one of our wonderful riders’ mums, for her incredible achievement in completing an Ultra Marathon in support of our centre.

Taking on such a demanding challenge requires tremendous dedication, determination, and resilience, and we are so grateful that Gemma chose to do it on behalf of our riders and ponies.

The funds raised will help us continue providing valuable riding opportunities, confidence-building experiences, and therapeutic benefits for our riders, ensuring that we can keep making a difference in the lives of the people who attend our centre each week.

🌊🏊‍♂️ DEEP WATER CHARITY SWIM 🏊‍♂️🌊

In August 2026, W.Bro John Nichols will take on an incredible challenge — swimming around the legendary Bishop Rock Lighthouse in memory of Geoff Setterfield. ❤️

This brave open-water swim will raise funds to enable we continue supporting riders with disabilities and helping continue the amazing work we do for the community.

🥾💚 ONE AMAZING MUM TAKING ON THE SUSSEX TRAIL MARATHON 💚🥾

At the end of May, one of our wonderful riding centre mums will be taking on the Sussex Trail Marathon with Ultra Challenge to raise funds for Thanet Disabled Riding Centre. 🐴

Her son has been riding with us since he was just 3 years old, and over the years the Centre has become such an important part of their family’s life. From building confidence and independence to creating friendships and unforgettable memories, the support he has received through riding has meant so much.

Now, she wants to give something back by taking on this incredible challenge to help support the ponies, riders, and future of our Centre. ❤️

As an independent charity, fundraising is vital to help us continue providing riding sessions for our amazing riders each week.
