Play Torbay

Play Torbay Torbay’s leading provider of play activities, offering over 20,000 free opportunities every year.

The charity’s objects are:
(1) To enhance the development and education of children of Torbay through play
(2) To advance the education of the public regarding the importance of children’s play
We passionately believe that:
• All children should have the freedom, time, space, permission and opportunity to PLAY throughout their childhood and teenage years
• All residential neighbourhoods should be

child-friendly places where children and young people can regularly play outside
• All disabled young people should be able to realise their aspirations and their right to be in an inclusive community that supports their play. Play Torbay supports a range of community work projects to help understand and address the issues that affect children, their families and their communities. We work in partnership with Friends groups, schools and community groups, social care, specialist services, including links with the police and specialist children and family intervention services, We work closely with the Local Authority and the Torbay Community Development Trust contributing to the strategic development of services at a local level. We raise funds to provide services for children and young people across the Bay FREE of charge.

🌱 Exciting news!

We’re delighted to announce funding has been secured for Torbay’s first youth-led Climate Action Imagination Station at People's Parkfield

Thanks to support from the Network for Social Change and match funding from LocalMotion Torbay, this will be a space where young people shape environmental action, explore green skills, and imagine a positive future for the Bay 🌴

We’re also thrilled that our partners Taleblazers will be facilitating the project, bringing their expertise in connecting young people with nature, storytelling, conservation and outdoor learning 🌳

As we celebrate Day this week, this project is a great reminder of what’s possible when young people are trusted to lead, create and drive change in their communities 🌟

This will be a great event for young people of 16-18 unsure about what they want to do next. It's a relaxed, drop in event - or if you're really keen use the QR code to book ahead. I'll be dropping in, even though I am *ahem* a bit older than 18 🙄 I think there will be a lot of great information to share.

📢 Do you know a young person turning 16 or 18? Are they unsure about their next steps?

Let them know about this free, drop-in event for young people in Torbay who want to explore their future & figure out their next steps.

🗓️ Tuesday 9 June, 12-6pm
📍 Torquay Assembly Hall

🌟 A quieter session will run from 12pm-1pm for those who prefer a calmer environment.

Whether they already have a plan or no idea where to start, this event is for them. You’ll find everything in one place – real people, real opportunities, and real support.

CAN YOU HELP US, PLEASE?

Rotary Club of Torbay Sunrise have worked incredibly hard and done the most amazing job of clearing the ground at Play Torbay’s Wild Fox. In this heat too!!!

We honestly can’t thank them enough for doing this. We did try to thank them with snacks and drinks but they already had enough food for an army delivered by their Rotary friends. 😁

The thing is - there are lots of dead tree stumps and roots that still need to come out and a giant pile of vegetation they have cut down that needs to go to the recycling centre.
If you know of someone with a van that could transport it to the recycling centre for us that we be absolutely amazing.

Also, and we know this is a massive ask: if you have, or know of someone who has, a rotavator or a mini digger that we could use for a morning to get the tree stumps out we would put you straight to the top of the Christmas card list.
