After 4 wonderful years OT Outdoors is closing!

With deep regret, but hope in our hearts we have had to make the very difficult decision to close OT Outdoors, in part due to the difficult financial and funding climate.

We are truly sorry not to be able to continue to run the Skill up in Nature group at Five Acre Farm which we have been running since April 2025.

This is a sad time in many ways, but also a time to celebrate the work we have done. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to work with many wonderful people and organisations and, of course, many happy hours outdoors tending the earth and reaping the benefits.

Creating and running OT Outdoors has been an amazing and unforgettable journey and we are proud of all of our achievements. It’s been a real honour to work alongside the people who have benefited from our work. And to meet and collaborate with the organisations and individuals who have supported us. We extend our deep thanks to all of those who supported us, believed in us and collaborated with us.

We are keen to continue to spread the important message that connection to nature is fundamental for the health and well-being of both people and planet. We look forward to exploring new ways we can continue sharing our knowledge, experience and skills as freelance occupational therapist/horticultural therapists.

If you would like to work with us, we would love to hear from you please contact us on the emails below

Today at skill up in Nature it was our last session before Christmas!
We went for a walk and foraged for materials to make wreaths.

Wreath making it’s very creative and sensory -lots of colours and textures and smells -and everybody made different and interesting designs inspired by nature!

We are developing our outdoor cooking skills and working together to make yummy cakes cooked in orange skins over a camp fire!

We even managed to fit in some jobs for the farm helping them to clear their flowerbeds for winter and feed the compost heap!

Thanks to all our wonderful attendees and their families for a great Autumn and Winter term. We are breaking until at least February.
We wish everybody a Merry Christmas.💚 🌲

We kept warm and got some exercise with a walk locally.
We got creative and made Christmas cards, and finally we had a walk around the herb garden smelling herbs such as Feverfew, Chamomile and Penny Royal!

It’s been a beautiful frosty day at five Acre farm today!

At Skill up in Nature we are learning more about organic farming through harvesting kale for the farm, which will be sold onto local shops and restaurants.

We kept warm and got some exercise with a wintery walk through the woods and up to the hills!

We we found ice and insects in the community garden while we cleared the last of the Nasturtiums after last night’s frost.

Skill up in Nature is back at Five Acre Farm for the late Auntumn term!

During our first session back we worked together to harvest Jerusalem artichokes from the community.
We developed woodwork skills through making bug hotels, and collaborated creatively to create a beautiful Mandala with natures offerings from Autumn!

Last week at Skill up in Nature our participants gained valuable work experience harvesting basil in the poly tunnels.
We learnt how to create nature inspired crafts to support well-being, and took notice of how the seasons are changing.
We also harvested lots of lovely vegetables from our community garden, and some of our participants took these home to cook with!

Today at Skill up in Nature at Five Acre Farm we are learning more about horticulture and farming …..we planted onion sets and dug up potatoes in our community garden.

We also helped to clear and prepare one of the flowerbeds, saving the seeds for planting next year!

The last of the blackberries were foraged from the local hedgerows!

And ….our fury friends, Luna and Kaya provided a little comfort at break times 🐶

Skill up in Nature is back! Our first session of the autumn term was 11/09/25.
At Five Acre Farm today we weeded around the lettuces and weaved these Gods Eye’s.
The flowers are still blooming in the flower patch and we found this beautiful and interesting caterpillar!
