Let's talk about....accountability.

Planning Department is not long out of , imposed by UK Government because of abject failings and poor performance.

No lessons, it seems, have been learned.

During the 5 week shrub clearance and tree felling spree at our reports and complaints were ignored and met with indifference.

It seems that unless you have the determination, time or money to challenge the Planners they remain a law unto themselves.

This is undemocratic and plain wrong.

So we are supporting this petition - and hope you will sign and share too.

"Our Power, Our Planet"

Let's redouble our efforts to save our precious green spaces for future generations.

If we don't, no one else will.

Not yet sold, but already a taste of the destruction ahead...one of the first of 160 trees to go. Most of the trees TPOd by Bristol Tree Forum will be felled - almost half the trees at the Gardens including County Champions. Time to build houses where people want and need them - not on precious green spaces which people also want and need. Join us. It's not too late.

It isn't over.

The Judicial Review did not succeed, but the Zoo Gardens have not yet been sold.

Bristol Zoological Society exchanged contracts with controversial developers Acorn Property Group last year, but the sale has not yet gone through.

We were contacted by Councillors in Frome who warned us against Acorn. They saw off Acorn from a major development site in the town.

Our due diligence raises serious concerns about the reputation, probity, track record and finances of Acorn. We believe they are absolutely the wrong choice for this unique and high profile site.

Worse, we know that Bristol Zoological Society delegated the due diligence it should have done on Acorn to Savills (who also act for Acorn). Now, EVEN THOUGH we have written an Open Letter to BZS trustees and two private letters putting them on notice of our concerns, they refuse to listen.

Meanwhile the chainsaws are on site clearing and felling trees even though the nesting season has just started.

Bristol City Council Planners are doing....NOTHING.

Please join our weekly protests (Wednesdays, 12:30, Acorn HQ in Clifton) to stop this sale.
