Survive

Survive Working towards freedom from domestic abuse. Nationally two women a week die in this country at the hands of their partner or ex partner (Walby and Allen 2004).

As well as working with women and children in South Glos and Bristol to recover from their experiences of domestic violence and abuse, we work preventatively with schools and other agencies to try and intervene early to prevent the impact of abuse.

80 - 90% of domestic abuse is by men towards women.

1 in 4 women experience domestic violence over their lifetime. Children are the hidden victims of

domestic violence. They often see, hear and are the direct recipients of domestic violence. In 75% to 90% of incidents of domestic violence, children are in the same or the next room. (Hughes, 1992; Abrahams, 1994).
