This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, and we're proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of the young people who have taken part through FACE.
Over the last year alone, our DofE participants have contributed an amazing 247 hours of volunteering, creating an estimated social value of £1,864 for their communities.
One participant, Brad, reflected:
"I really enjoyed doing DofE because it gave me the chance to challenge myself, learn new things and gain experiences I wouldn’t have had otherwise. One of the most rewarding parts was volunteering. I enjoyed helping others and knowing that I was making a positive difference in my community. It taught me responsibility, patience and the importance of giving back, while also helping me build confidence.
I also enjoyed the skills section because it gave me the opportunity to develop an interest and improve at something over time. It taught me that learning a new skill takes commitment and practice, but it was really satisfying to see my progress. The physical section was another great experience, as it encouraged me to stay active, set goals and push myself to improve. It helped me become more motivated and showed me the benefits of perseverance.
The expedition was probably the biggest challenge. Carrying all our equipment, navigating with a map and walking long distances wasn't always easy, but I enjoyed working as a team and overcoming the challenges together. Completing it gave me a real sense of achievement and confidence.
Overall, DofE taught me resilience, independence and teamwork, while helping me grow as a person. I made great memories, learned valuable life skills and had a lot of fun along the way. I would definitely recommend DofE to other young people because it helps you discover what you're capable of and gives you experiences that will stay with you for life."
Congratulations to everyone who has taken part, and here's to the next 70 years of inspiring young people to discover what they're capable of!
