Bristol Bears Community Foundation deliver programmes that are proven to change the lives of some of the most disadvantaged young people in our communities. The charity works with over 10,000 young people each year. The real passion and focus of the Foundation is education and primarily how the values and ethics of rugby union can be used to engage and effectively educate young people. The Foundation not only show young people the consequences of poor choices in their lives but also the benefits and rewards of making positive and informed choices. Through the power of sport the Foundation aims to inspire every young person it works with, helping them to unlock their potential. The Foundation actively promotes community participation in healthy recreation and physical activity and assists in the advancement of amateur sport. The charity also helps to provide facilities for sport, recreation, physical activity and other leisure time activity for those young people who need it most. Bristol Bears Community Foundation has been recognised for its innovative and effective approach by winning eight Parliamentary Awards since May 2008.

Bright Sparks 2025/26 Impact 🐻

We worked with 150 boys in 10 secondary schools across the region during the last academic year, supporting students at risk of disengaging from education.

Delivered twice weekly during the school day, Bright Sparks blends practical rugby and multi-sport activity with classroom reflection, mentoring and discussion.

Participants work towards an accredited ASDAN Sport & Fitness Award, whilst also working on resilience, positive coping strategies and higher aspirations for their future.
