Fresh new look... for our salon too!

Our salon at Abbeyfield House, Henleaze has recently been updated, creating a lovely modern space for residents to enjoy. With our visiting hairdresser on hand, residents can easily book themselves an appointment and enjoy a professional hairdressing service right here at home.

A trip to the salon is always a chance to relax, chat and leave feeling refreshed and confident! ✨

Across our houses, we are privileged to hear some truly wonderful stories from our residents about their lives.

Recently, Barbara, a resident at Kift Lodge shared a touching poem written by her husband, "Remember the Blessings." Through heartfelt words, the poem reflects on their life together, the challenges they faced, the joys they shared, and the gratitude he felt for the love that carried them through the years.

The poem is a beautiful reminder that even during difficult times, it is often the love of our families and cherished moments that remain closest to our hearts - and it's a true reflection of how much life can change over the years.

Good food has the power to do so much more than just satisfy hunger. 💚

At Abbeyfield Bristol & Keynsham, we've been exploring how simple changes to everyday meals can help our residents stay strong, healthy, and independent for longer.

Through our Food & Nutrition Project, our brilliant cooks have been learning more about the benefits of nutrient-rich ingredients, from protein-packed breakfasts and whole foods to immunity-boosting fruits and homemade stocks.

It's all about making every meal as nourishing as it is delicious, because eating well should help us feel our best at every age.

We want to wish a huge Happy Birthday to Ellen, one of our amazing volunteers 🎂

Ellen has been a volunteer at Abbeyfield House, Redland since day one and currently leads an exercise class there every Thursday for the residents.

This morning she was greeted by staff and residents who had a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for her 💐

Recently residents, staff, volunteers, family and friends came together at Kift Lodge, in Hanham, to continue our 60th Anniversary celebrations 🎉☀️

With glorious sunshine, everyone enjoyed delicious food made by our fantastic cooks and raised a glass of refreshing Pimm's to mark this special milestone. 🍹

The entertainment was a real highlight, with the incredibly talented Frankie Johns, who appeared on Britain's Got Talent, keeping everyone singing along and dancing the afternoon away. 🎤🎶

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the celebration so memorable. As we look back on 60 years of supporting older people across Bristol and Keynsham, we're proud of all we've achieved together and excited for the years ahead.

Here's to friendship, community and the next 60 years! ❤️

Did you know that Abbeyfield Bristol & Keynsham's story began 60 years ago?

Our very first house opened at 5 Hughenden Road, Clifton, marking the start of a commitment to providing companionship, support and a welcoming home for older people across Bristol.

Each new house represented more than just a building. It created a place where people later in life could enjoy independence, friendship, security and a true sense of belonging.

As we celebrate our heritage, we'd like to thank everyone who has been part of our journey over the decades, including residents, staff, volunteers, supporters and the wider community. Together, you've helped shape Abbeyfield Bristol & Keynsham into the organisation it is today. 💚

Last week the residents at Abbeyfield House Redland, picked up their pencils to take part in a relaxed and creative drawing session while sipping refreshing gin and tonics! 🎨🍸

There was plenty of laughter, great conversation, and some fantastic artwork produced along the way.

It's always lovely to see everyone coming together to try something new, express their creativity, and enjoy each other's company. A perfect way to spend the afternoon! 💙
