At last month’s BAMAN Awards, we were thrilled to see the Academic Contribution to the Sector Award went to the wonderful Sabrina Dawkins! 🏆

Hear her immediate reaction to winning this award and what it meant to her to have been voted for by her fellow BAMAN nurses.

This award celebrates those making a real difference through education, research and academic contributions, helping to raise standards and shape the future of medical aesthetic nursing.

Sabrina’s impressive academic work focuses on improving patient safety, education and professional standards in medical aesthetics. Through her NIHR-supported research, peer-reviewed publications and national conference presentations, she has explored patient consultations, social media influences, skin cancer recognition and industry regulation. Her contributions were recognised with the NIHR Impact Award in 2025.

🚨 Government launches consultation on high-risk cosmetic procedures.

The Department of Health and Social Care has today announced a consultation on proposed new restrictions for high-risk cosmetic and wellbeing procedures in England.

The proposals would introduce clearer restrictions on which healthcare professionals can undertake certain procedures, including provisions for independent nurse prescribers and independent midwife prescribers.

They also include new protections for under-18s and tougher enforcement measures for those who breach the proposed regulations.

BAMAN welcomes the opportunity to contribute to this important consultation and will be reviewing the proposals carefully, particularly their implications for medical aesthetic nurses, professional standards and patient safety.

We will share further information with members as we consider the details of the proposed regulations.

We caught up with Mitchell Richards, fresh from winning the IBSA Award for Rising Star of the Year, to capture the excitement of the moment.
