“Happiness is only real when shared.” - Christopher McCandless
In today’s world, the path of least resistance leads us toward greater isolation and individualism. But humans are hardwired to thrive only when we find genuine connection.
It feels like we've got to a point where, sadly, connection itself feels like an act of resistance. To nourish and cultivate this vital part of our wellbeing, we now need to be much more deliberate and intentional in seeking meaningful connection.
The moments like a smile at the bus stop, a chat with a delivery driver, casual office banter are great, but they’re not the deep connection we crave.
I created Sound in the Woods as a space for genuine, deep, and authentic connection. It's what humans have been doing for far longer than we have been speaking to each other. So we don't use words to connect. We use something much older. Creating sound and rhythm together in nature connects people in a way that transcends words. The music we make is beautiful. But not the way that we have come to define beauty (i.e. perfection), but because it’s a truly authentic expression of the experience of connection that happens in our sessions. Much more natural, you might say.
If you ask me what Sound in the Woods is about, it's this: connection, with yourself, with nature, and with others.
Next time you’re on a crowded train or at a conference, think about how much richer it would be if you were in the woods, connecting for real.
