We were delighted to welcome 250 attendees from across the region to City Hall for a highly successful event, bringing together voices from across the sector.

It’s been fantastic to see such strong engagement with both the event and the wider campaign. We’re particularly encouraged by the growing local spotlight on the Renters’ Rights Act, including coverage on BBC Radio Bristol and in Bristol24/7.

This momentum reflects the importance of the issue and the collective commitment to driving positive change.

We’re now looking ahead to campaign week, when we’ll see this work come to life.

📅 Save the date: 27 April – 1 May

Renters’ Rights Act will become law on May 1

Last year, we expanded our outreach service, working alongside community hubs across Bristol to deliver free and confidential housing advice and support

By meeting people where they are, we aim to catch housing problems upstream – before they escalate into crisis or homelessness 🏠️

94% of clients at new drop-ins said they would not have accessed housing advice had it not been for us coming to their local area 📍

Sadly, today's report comes as no surprise.

Since the start of the cost-of-living crisis, the number of households placed in Temporary Accommodation has risen by a harrowing 130%. We will keep helping people in Bristol navigate a path to a safe, secure home.

We want to thank one of our clients who has contributed to this research and shared their experience of life in Temporary Accommodation for them and their neurodivergent children.

Exclusive: Parents said their children had become withdrawn or hypervigilant because of uncertainty, unsafe environments and removal of support

A warm welcome to our new volunteers 🙌

We welcomed 3 new volunteers to the Housing Matters team last week to learn about our Working Upstream project and what we do here at Housing Matters.

They will be researching our Working Upstream project, helping to evaluate how effective it is as we take our advice out into different communities across Bristol.
