All members of the community are welcome to take 5 items from the Larder, plus bread, every day. Anyone. The Larder exists to stop food going to waste. Where is it?
26 Somerset Square, Nailsea. Next to WH Smiths (it's where the ping pong parlour used to be). When is it open? Monday to Saturday 10.00am-12.30pm. Where does the food come from? Local supermarkets, businesses and individuals. Donations
of surplus goods from allotments welcomed. Why is it there? It’s aim is to reduce food waste. In the UK we throw away 10.2million tonnes of food each year which in turn creates more than 20million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions - the equivalent to 3.5 million cars. What will I find in it? This depends on what has been donated. We usually have bread, an assortment of fruit and vegetables, sometimes cakes and fresh flowers. Can I donate food? Yes, but from individuals we can only take fresh veg and fruit or unopened tins and packets within use by date due to restrictions of food safety certification. Can I donate money? Yes – funds are always welcome to help with our running costs. The link to our gofundme page is here - https://gofund.me/624a2a59
Who is running it? The Nailsea Community Group and it’s amazing volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us [email protected]
