Fantastic start!!! Please keep sharing and spreading the word and thank you for your generosity ⭐️⭐️⭐️We have made £1200 in donations already! Proving yet again that we the people choose to welcome people and be their friends ❤️❤️❤️ WWe are fundraising to cover rent to keep our asylum seeking friends in Brighton.

The Home Office is trying to force refugees out of our city. It plans to close the hotel where around 15 single women and families seeking asylum are currently housed, and scatter them away from the city. Including to towns where far right racists are attacking refugees.

So we, a coalition of community groups and Brighton residents, are launching this campaign to get them in safe, stable housing in Brighton. Funds raised here will go directly to paying rent, bills and other basic living costs for our asylum seeking neighbours in need.

🏠 Do you have a spare room? We are looking for people who might be able to offer a safe, welcoming room to a refugee for at least 3 months.

Here’s how it works:

💛 Hosting is facilitated through Refugees at Home — an organisation experienced in connecting refugees with people willing to host.

💷 Guests will have £50 a week to cover their living costs.

🤝 T4K’s Care & Support Group supports guests throughout their placement.

🏠 There is no financial support for rent — this is a spare-room hosting arrangement, not a rental.

❤️ If a placement isn’t working, it can be ended.
❤️ Guests also understand that hosting isn’t an indefinite arrangement.

That said, hosting can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Hosts and guests have formed close friendships, shared stories and recipes, discovered different cultures and, most importantly, helped someone find safety and stability at a difficult time in their life.

❤️ Could you offer a spare room?

Find out more about hosting through Refugees at Home: www.refugeesathome.org

Or talk to Thousand 4 £1000 about what’s involved:

All hosting arrangements are subject to our capacity as a volunteer-run organisation.

A spare room can mean so much more than a roof over someone’s head. ❤️

EMERGENCY PUBLIC MEETING

Brighton says Yes!

Tuesday 6 October, 7.15 PM
Cornerstone Community Centre, Church Road, Hove BN3 2FL

We all belong in Brighton!

The Home Office is trying to force refugees out of our city. It plans to close the hotel where families and single women seeking asylum are currently housed, and scatter them away from the city. Including to towns where far right racists are attacking refugees.

So we, a coalition of community groups and Brighton residents, are launching this campaign to get them safe, stable housing in Brighton.

We are demanding that the City Council steps up and helps us find permanent homes. We also call on all Brighton residents to help us provide short term emergency accommodation. Together we can do this.

The hotel residents are our neighbours. Their lives, friends and support networks are here with us in Brighton. Babies have been born here, friendships made. They are part of our community. We will not let them be scattered to unknown locations across the UK, including to towns where refugees are under attack.

At a time where ugly racism is on the rise again, we will defend our neighbours and make sure Brighton lives up to its status as a “Sanctuary City”. Our city, with all its empty investment properties and AirBnBs, cannot be too “rich” to shelter those in need.

Join us. Please come to the meeting, bring your solidarity and ideas for action.
