One of our mentees kindly shared her experience with sexism, interestingly we’ve heard similar stories from women of all ages.

Casual sexism unfortunately finds a way into everyday scenarios, effecting women in varying ways. At Flourish Mentors we want to help young women navigate these situations, helping them find their inner voice, stability, and confidence.

Building confidence in young women is one of our biggest goals as a charity, and conversations like these help us understand the intricacies of each person.

Last week we held our second care-experienced training session, co-run by our amazing Leona, a care-experienced mentee ✨

This training (sponsored by the National Lottery community fund) aims to help our mentors understand and navigate vulnerability within their mentees, whether care-experienced or not — by sharing real stories that are otherwise overlooked, and creating space for open conversation.

Here is Leona giving us valuable insight into one aspect of being in care: the importance of getting to know your foster children 💕

Girlhood is defined as “the state or time of being a girl”, but we think it is so much more than that. As described by some of our mentees, girlhood also involves defining your femininity and calling on your female friends 💕 Girlhood is an individual experience, but beautifully often brings us together.

This Mental Health Awareness Week we are shouting out female friendships and the amazing ways we support one another, a powerful ingredient for better mental health 🧠

We had an absolutely amazing international women’s day with our first fundraiser!!

Thank you so so very much to our multitude of supporters, mentees, mentors and trustees who came and joined our team work and care-experienced fundraising effort!!

We want to thank our growing community, and can’t wait to keep making an impact, making sure that “no young woman is invisible!”✨✨✨
