Out to swim Brighton & Hove

Two weeks ago, on 21st July, four of our members competed in the Sussex Masters Swimming Competition at The Triangle pool in Burgess Hill and came away with some brilliant results.

All of our swimmers brought home medals across their different events including Gigi who won bronze in the 50m breaststroke and gold in the 100m breaststroke in the 40 to 44 category.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part. It was a great day for the competitors and a strong showing from our club members at a competitive meet.

Next up in our Meet the Committee series is Gigi our social secretary. He is the friendly face behind all our many exciting social events and works incredibly hard to make sure there’s something for everyone.

He organises our regular post-swim pub trips on Thursdays and Saturdays across a variety of local venues, keeping things interesting by rotating them regularly. He also keeps us informed beforehand about which pub will be waiting for us after a hard swim. We’re all very grateful for that well-earned drink at the end of a session!

He's also organised some fantastic outings, including drag shows during Brighton Festival and visits to one of our favourite haunts, The Bedford Tavern, where we've enjoyed talented drag performances from favourites such as The Madame and Snow White Trash.

For those who prefer something a little more relaxed, Gigi has arranged pétanque afternoons (and as a Frenchman, patiently taught many of us how to play!) and most recently brought members together for a laid-back beach BBQ at sunset.

Our club isn’t just about swimming. It's about making friends, shared experiences, and building community. Thankyou Gigi for helping bring that to life!

And his final set hype song: Shallow End by Morcheeba. It’s laid-back, fun, welcoming and all about the good vibes… just like every Gigi social.
