Creative Future

Creative Future Our vision is a world where the arts are diverse, representative and accessible to everyone.

Creative Future supports some of the UK's most talented underrepresented artists. Our mission is to make the arts more diverse and representative of the world we live in. We work with underrepresented artists of all kinds with a specialism in working with writers. We work with artists who lack opportunities due to mental health problems, substance misuse issues, learning or physical disabilities,

long term unemployment, or social exclusion of any kind. Our flagship event is the Creative future Writers' Award, our annual development programme. It includes the UK’s only national writing competition for ALL underrepresented writers, alongside a series of workshops in hubs throughout the UK.

Congratulations to 2025 Creative Future Writers' Award winner, William Wyld, whose poetry pamphlet 'The Butterfly Bush' is now available to pre-order🎉

“You might think you know where a poem is going, only to be met by a sudden switch that is catnip for the synapses. Wyld weaves a sensuous spell rooted in the materiality of life. They explore complicated sexual dynamics, loss and a q***ring of ecopoetics which relishes the natural world from spiders to a black leopard." Lisa Kelly

Join us at Brighton Book Festival for a lively, welcoming creative writing workshop where you can stretch your storytelling muscles, connect with fellow writers, and meet people from Creative Future, New Writing South, and Writing Our Legacy - local organisations working to make publishing more inclusive, dynamic and representative.

Led by acclaimed poet Sea Sharp, this inspiring session will take place at Brighthelm Church and Community Centre on Thursday 18 June 2026, 3.30-5pm.

Expect an energising, life-affirming space to explore your voice and creativity.

This workshop is open to all levels.

If you are Black, a person of colour, q***r, disabled, neurodivergent, working class, or have lived experience of mental health challenges, you may have noticed how rarely your stories are reflected on high street shelves. This workshop is about changing that—by writing the stories we want, need, and deserve to read.
