Rockinghorse Children's Charity We're a Brighton-based charity that has been supporting sick and disadvantaged babies, children and teenagers in Sussex since 1967.

Registered charity number 1018759. We are a Brighton-based charity that has been supporting children in Sussex for over 50 years. Rockinghorse was founded in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, who recognised there was a real need for additional resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies. Our charity is best-known as the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hos

pital (the Alex) in Brighton and we are a vital supporter of the neighbouring Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU). We strive to make children’s services and paediatric units stimulating, cutting-edge and accessible for the many children, babies and young people who need them. We do not receive any government funding and therefore rely on the generous support of individuals, community groups, schools, companies and trusts. It’s time to gather your cleverest friends, funniest colleagues or most competitive family members for the annual Rockinghorse Quiz! 💙

Join us on Thursday 5 November 2026 in the Boundary Room at Sussex Cricket Ground for a brilliant evening of trivia, food, fizz and fundraising.

Expect music, sport, pictures, general knowledge and plenty of chances to prove who really knows their stuff. 🏆✨

🪂 Would you jump 15,000ft to support sick children?

A huge thank you to Lee Hilton, founder of Goring Electrical Services, who took on an incredible skydive in support of Rockinghorse Children’s Charity. 💙

Lee has raised an amazing £5,000 to help support sick babies, children and young people across Sussex.

Lee said: “I decided this was the perfect challenge for me to show my support personally and as a company for the fantastic Rockinghorse Charity. Jumping at 15,000 ft is no easy task, but nothing like these families deal with every day.”

We’re so grateful to Lee and the whole team at Goring Electrical Services for their continued support, from sponsoring our Charity Ball and providing prizes, to planning a Golf Day in October. Their kindness will make such a difference to children and families across Sussex. 🫶

Join us for our third annual Rockinghorse Relay at the wonderful Sea Lanes on Brighton seafront 🌙✨

Take on this unique overnight swimming challenge by:
🏊 Swimming for a whole hour yourself
👯 Or taking part as a team

It’s a fantastic chance to experience Sea Lanes at a time the pool is normally closed to the public 🌃

Rockinghorse began with one powerful idea: that children in Sussex deserved better 💙

Nearly 60 years ago, Dr Trevor Mann began fundraising for the first incubator outside London, helping to change the future for sick and premature babies in our region 👶✨

Since then, Rockinghorse has grown into a charity supporting babies, children, young people, families and NHS staff across Sussex 🏥🌈

We’ve helped fund toys 🧸, equipment 🩺, spaces 🌟, research 🔬, activities 🎨 and people 💛, all with the same goal: to improve the hospital experience for children and families.

As we prepare to celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2027 🎉, we’re proud of our history. But we’re even more focused on the future 💫

That’s 60 years of supporting babies, children, young people, families and the NHS across Sussex 💙🏥

From Dr Trevor Mann’s fundraising for the first incubator outside London 👶, to the move to the current Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital site in 2007 🏥, to the projects we fund today 🌈, Rockinghorse has been part of Sussex’s healthcare story for generations.
