Check out a new group coming to Eastbrook Manor Community Centre. Little Indie Kids, a music session for our littlest people and their carers.

Sessions start this Thursday at 10am and run weekly. Why not give it a go!

Quick reminder that the our local Police Youth Officers will be at Southwick Green today engaging with children and young people from 3-5pm. Why not pop a long and have a chat about any worries or concerns.

As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, PS McAlees along with our Neighbourhood Youth Officers will be holding two informal drop-in sessions with children and young people in the community.

They will be talking about topics including stop and search and knife crime, giving young people the chance to ask questions, share their views and have open, honest conversations.

There will also be some fun quizzes, opportunities to win some sweets, and we'll be bringing a football along for anyone who fancies a kickabout.

Whether you want to ask a question, learn more about policing, or simply come and say hello, we'd love to see you there.

Good News, the Squirrel Scouts, still have spaces for children aged 4-6yrs old. If you have a child that would be interested then drop them a line and get them involved.

The scouts are a fantastic organisation and offer lots of activities, to learn new skills and meet other children.

Our friends at Squirrel Scouts are looking for some new friends. If you have little ones aged between 4 & 6 yrs old, who love adventure and have loads of energy.....then why not give Squirrels a try!

Really looking forward to working alongside Community People, as they move into Fishersgate and also take on the day to day running of the Community Centre, later this year.

A new project is set to increase community participation in Fishersgate thanks to our Thriving Together grant fund.

The charity Community People has been awarded £12,500 from the fund to develop its On Your Doorstep project, which aims to replace traditional engagement methods like formal consultations with real conversations on doorsteps and in local spaces.

Last year Community People worked with us to understand what improvements local residents would like to see at Eastbrook Manor Community Centre in Fishersgate, via flyers, door-knocking and a drop-in event.

The popular community centre is currently undergoing a £1.2 million transformation project and will be run by Community People once building work is completed.

On Your Doorstep will build on this work with an engagement project that priorities in-person conversations through door-knocking, letter drops, street chats, and small gatherings at the community centre.

In the first year, the charity’s team aims to knock on 2,000 local doors and hold four face-to-face listening events to get information that can help improve local services, health results and community unity.

Free training will also be available for local voluntary and community groups on door-knocking campaigns, 10 local residents will be recruited as volunteers and up to 15 new or expanded activities led by local people and grassroots groups will be launched.

The project will culminate in a celebration event for the community and an online toolkit on how to run door-knocking campaigns so that more organisations and residents can benefit.

Alert! Bike Marking Event - this week - Weds 10th June in Southwick Square from 4pm-5pm.

🚲 Got a bike? Get it marked.

Our Neighbourhood Policing Team in partnership with Neighbourhood Watch Network are running bike marking events to help keep your bike safe and make it easier to return if it’s ever lost or stolen.

📅 June 10th - 4-5pm
📌 Southwick Square

Bike marking is quick, free, and can:
✔ Deter theft
✔ Help identify your bike if recovered
✔ Increase the chances of it being returned to you

Pop along with your bike and speak to our officers or the Neighbourhood Watch team.

Always there with a warm welcome, whether you are feeling overwhelmed with paperwork and forms, need help getting online....or have run out of food - the hub team are there for you!

Looking for something for the children to do over the half term? Then why not pop along to Figment Arts' sessions at Shoreham Port and add to their collage to celebrate stories of the Port.

Figments sessions are always really popular and tickets go fast, so best to book early to avoid disappointment.

We're really looking forward to seeing the exhibition for this project and all the contributions from local people that have helped build the stories from the past.
