This is not another organisation.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT?

There are already organisations in Brighton & Hove supporting Disabled people and many of them do important work.

But this is not another service.

This is something different.

This is about creating a Disabled People’s Organisation that is:

• Owned by Disabled people
• Shaped by its members
• Independent of funding structures that limit what can be said or done

Every member has a share.
Every member has a vote.

This isn’t about consultation.
It’s about ownership.

It’s not about speaking for Disabled people.
It’s about creating something we control together.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing how this works in practice — including how people can take part, influence decisions, and be part of building something new.

Brighton & Hove Virtual Disabled People’s Organisation is being created to bring Disabled people together in a way that is accessible, practical, and rooted in the social model of disability and independent living.

Something new is starting in Brighton & Hove.

For a long time, I’ve been thinking about how Disabled people can come together in a way that is genuinely ours, not controlled by funding structures, not diluted, and not speaking about us without us.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing something I’ve been working on for quite some time.
