Can you support our wonderful friend, Lewis Claydon, as he selflessly walks Hadrian’s Wall to raise much needed funds for VYD in early June 👏 😰

Here’s his story:

“84 miles. 3 days. Coast to coast.

In early June, I’m taking on Hadrian’s Wall - walking the full coast-to-coast route in just 3 days.

It’s going to hurt. A lot. But it’s for something that really matters.

I’m raising money for VYD CIC - a brilliant community organisation focused on getting more people into sport and giving young people a better path forward. They do incredible work supporting those who are often underrepresented or overlooked, including women, refugees and marginalised groups - using sport, mentoring and community to build confidence, opportunity and belonging.

Thank you, Lewis” 🙏🏼

Our first Impact Report is here.

It’s for 2024/25, and yes, it’s taken time.

That’s the reality of being a small organisation doing hands-on work. We’ve been busy where it matters most - in communities, on pitches, with young people, building trust and creating opportunities.

This report isn’t just stats and outputs. It’s a snapshot of what happens when football is made fairer, more inclusive, and rooted in people.

We’re proud of the big wins:

Communities reached
Young people supported
Partnerships built
Programmes delivered

And we’re proud of the quieter wins too:
Confidence rebuilt
Belonging created
Voices found

Meet Isco, our photographer for our Away From Home - refugees and asylum seekers football project.

We’ve bought him a lovely, sparkling camera with some funding we’ve received and he’s making good use of it! 🤩 📸

At VYD we believe that the development of young female athletes must include a deeper understanding of physiological and wellbeing factors that influence long-term engagement and performance. Our latest blog, the second in a series by Carla Dennien, explores why menstrual health, nutrition and wellbeing education are critical components of girls’ sport.

Across puberty and adolescence, body changes, stigma around periods and a lack of appropriate support can lead to disengagement from sport at a time when participation is rising and sport has never offered more opportunities.

When we normalise conversations about the menstrual cycle, support quality nutrition and recovery, and help athletes understand how their bodies work, we give girls more tools to stay healthy, resilient and confident.

It isn’t just about performance, it’s about retention, wellbeing and empowering girls to thrive both on and off the pitch.

Read the full blog to understand why this education matters now more than ever and how we are supporting Carla’s great work with Montpelier Villa Galaxy Girls. Link in bio.
