Coychurch WI welcomed speaker Simon Williams to their October meeting.

Simon is an illusionist and member of the magic circle who has enjoyed a lifelong passion for magic since he was a child.

His talk to our members posed the question:

Is It Fun To Be Fooled?

It was a fascinating presentation with Simon performing tricks along the way as he explored how our brains can be fooled.

Thank you, Simon, for your time and enthusiasm. Our members thoroughly enjoyed your visit.

Coychurch WI Crafters enjoyed a fun crafting session today led by Natalie C.

We all learned how to make an elastic beaded bracelet with a variety of beads and embellishments.

Everyone took home a wonderful, handmade creation and learned some great skills along the way.

Well done, everyone!

Coychurch WI held their usual fortnightly Craft Group meeting this week.

It was another well-attended session as we took on the challenge of painting pebbles with acrylic pens.

Everything from Christmas trees to quirky bees was the end result with lots of fun and laughter along the way.

Huge thanks to Jane for the ginger cake!

Wishing our friend Gloria a very happy birthday today. Hope you have a fabulous day in this beautiful sunshine xx

Coychurch WI members enjoyed a fascinating demonstration on the art of the kimono at their September meeting.

Our speaker, Kaori, was born and raised in Japan and is immensely proud of her heritage and the cultural importance of the kimono. She shared the history behind the Japanese national costume and demonstrated how it is worn, revealing the many layers involved in dressing the correct way.

Kaori’s collection comes directly from her family and friends and she used them to illustrate the different social levels of the kimono from daily wear to special events including the prestigious tea ceremonies used to mark important occasions.

It was a fascinating insight into Japanese culture and members thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn about Japanese cultural clothing and its origins.

Many thanks to Natalie C. For this report and photographs
