The Blue House, Frome The Blue House is a historic almshouse since the 15th century, set in a stunning 1728 Grade I Listed Building.

We have 17 flats and a riverside gardens, in the heart of the town of Frome. we are also a registered charity & social landlord.

We're pleased to be hosting the Frome Chamber of Commerce networking event on Thursday 11 June from 9:30am to 11:30am.
This event is organised by the Frome Chamber of Commerce and offers a fantastic opportunity for local businesses, organisations and professionals to connect, collaborate and build relationships within the local business community.

💙 Thank You, Frome! 💙

What a fantastic day we had at yesterday’s Frome Independent Market.

It was wonderful to welcome so many visitors to The Blue House, who came to enjoy tea, coffee, homemade cakes and a chance to relax in our beautiful gardens away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised just under £500 towards our Tricentennial Campaign! 🎉

Every penny brings us one step closer to our goal of preserving The Blue House for future generations, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited, donated, baked, volunteered, and helped make the day such a success.

☕ We’d love to welcome you back this Wednesday for our regular Coffee Morning from 10:30am–12:30pm.

📅 And if you missed us this time, we’ll be opening our gardens again during the next Frome Independent Market on Sunday 5th July.

Thank you again for helping us keep The Blue House at the heart of our community. 💙

We loved seeing so many of you stop by for refreshments whilst visiting for the Frome Independent market.

7 facts about the Blue House
- The site has been an almshouse since 1465
- The current building dates back to 1728
- It once had a free school (open until 1921)
- The name comes from the blue coats worn by pupils
- The front features statues Nancy Guy & Billy Ball
- Two maid statues came from the Keyford Asylum (1803)
- Today, it still provides homes for older people

A building full of history and still very much part of Frome life

The Blue House is full of stories — some even told in stone 💙

From Almswoman Nancy Guy to Schoolboy Billy Ball, and the two serving girls inspired by the Keyford Home (founded in 1796), these statues reflect the lives and histories connected to this special place.

They remind us of the generations of people the Blue House has supported — from education to care, and everything in between.

As we restore and protect the building, we’re also preserving these stories for the future.
