'By the dawn's early light'! - and as Monty Python would say,( nice Liberty Bell reference for the ) "This is an EX-Transporter Bridge" in Duluth, Minnesota. Built a year earlier than 's in 1905, it was the first transporter bridge in the US, its Gondola gliding across the Duluth Ship Canal. In 1929 it was converted into a vertical-lift bridge!

One more for the set!
Destined to always remain on the subs bench, and definitely a ‘nearly-player’, this 1998 signing was to be the world's newest Transporter Bridge, but the mainly glass Gondola was never fitted. The bridge bit is still there though, and you can walk over the top in London’s Docklands.
