Pantoloons is a community amateur dramatics group, putting on a traditional family pantomime, back at the institute for 2025. Come and Join us!

We rehearse on a Tues & Thurs and are always looking for new members. rehearsal starts at the end of September. Pantoloons was founded in 1983 for the sole purpose of performing an annual pantomime by and for the people of the Braintree area. The aim was to put on a top class production while keeping ticket prices at an affordable level. Over the years hundreds of different cast and crew members h

ave maintained those aims and improved the shows year on year. Many people are involved in any one show and all work for free. Each show costs thousands of pounds to produce but we receive no grants or financial assistance. We raise all the money ourselves, with charitable donations made to local or noteworthy charities from the profits of the show. Any comments or queries can be made by messaging the page :-)

🎭 Calling all creative people and panto lovers! 🎭

Pantoloons are getting ready for our next pantomime, Rapunzel by Ben Crocker, coming to the Institute next February, and we’re looking for help behind the scenes.

We’re looking for people to join us and help us to create, build, make or manage...

👗 Costumes – character costumes, wigs, accessories and anything panto-worthy.

🏰 Props – small hand props through to larger or unusual items to help bring the story to life.

🎨 Scenery & Set – towers, village scenes, set pieces and anything to help create our fairy-tale world.

Whether you have theatre experience, can sew or make costumes, build or paint scenery, create props, have items we could borrow/use, or simply know someone who might be able to help — we’d love to hear from you. 🙏

With kings, queens, an unwitting hero, an anxiety-ridden dame and a whole host of colourful characters, this is a fairy tale with a wonderfully comic twist!

We are absolutely delighted to have received 5 NETG Award nominations for our February production of The Wizard of Oz! 🌈✨

A huge thank you to our amazing cast, crew, volunteers, and everyone who supported the production. Big Thanks also to The Institute Braintree for their support. These nominations are a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

And that's a wrap! Our Musical Mayhem is over. 🎵❤️🎵

What an amazing day we had performing our all singing, all dancing, Toe Tapping show, our musical Mayhem concert really was, packed with laughter, talent and show stoppers 😁😁 that no one will forget!

4 months in the making, starting with auditions then rehearsals and what a show day it was.

Thank you to our committee, Director, cast, The Institute Braintree for supporting us and everyone else who had a hand in making this show come to life. ⭐ And thank you to our audiences for coming and supporting us and our 3 charities. 👏🏻👏🏻
