Eid Mubarak. Wishing joy, peace and togetherness to everyone celebrating Eid in Bradford

In Islam, acts that continue to benefit others are known as Sadaqah Jariya charity that keeps giving.

So this Eid, we have a little challenge for you…

• Share a small act of kindness with your neighbourhood
• Pick up a piece of litter
• Say Salaam to a neighbour
• Spend time outdoors with family

And tell us… what does Eid mean to your family?

Thank you to the families that joined me for a Blooming Together outdoors session this morning in the Mayfield Centre Pocket Park. The weather was iffy but we still had lots of fun. Today's mini workshop was decorating plant pots and planting cress seeds. A super simple activity that can be recreated at home and you can even eat the cress once it's grown. Also did you know you can grow cress in and on almost anything? Yogurt pots with cotton wool or even empty egg shells make perfect plant pots for cress.

We also enjoyed building an outdoor train track, making shapes in the sand with moulds, playing with cars, drawing pavement patterns and playing on the park play equipment.

We finished the session under the shelter singing our favourite nursery rhymes and enjoying the bubble machine.

Join us again on Wednesday 3rd June for some more fun outdoor fun.

Thank you to Better Place Bradford for funding our outdoor sessions.

Also thanks to Bradford Trident for letting our families use the Mayfield centre toilets.

Today's mini workshop at our Blooming Together with Northern Rose sessions was sand painting. A very simple but sensory activity that sparked the children's curiosity. Why did I choose sand painting today? Well last week many children were fascinated by sand and by painting. I will always try and base activities on children's interests so that each session supports their learning. I will also try and find activities that are low cost, easy to set up and easy for families to recreate at home.

What can children learn from sand painting?

- Improved focus and concentration from the tactile nature of the sand.
-Increased hand eye coordination
-Practice and strengthen fine motor skills.
- Opportunity to plan, sequence and independently make decisions.
-Develop concepts such as colour recognition, shape and spatial awareness.

Join us again on Monday 1st June for more Blooming Together with Northern Rose sessions at

Mayfield Centre BD59NP 9.30am-11am
Great Horton community hub and library BD7 3PE 12.30pm-2pm

Thanks to Red Letter Project for the use of the hall at Great Horton Community Hub

Thanks to Bradford Trident for the use of the Mayfield centre hall

Thanks to The National Lottery for funding these sessions for the community to enjoy.
