📢 Could your experience help improve NHS services?

NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board is looking for people to join its new 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝, helping ensure the voices of patients, carers, families and communities are at the heart of health and care decisions.

People from all backgrounds are welcome, especially those whose voices are not always heard. You don't need to be an expert in the NHS.
𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭.

As a member, you'll:
🔹 Help shape how people are involved in health and care services
🔹Share your perspective alongside voluntary organisations, Healthwatch, local authorities and NHS partners
🔹Ask questions and challenge constructively to make sure local views are heard
🔹Help reduce health inequalities across the region

The Board meets every two months, with support and guidance provided throughout.

Community Outreach: Beyond the Pilot Programme

👏 We are pleased to announce that our outreach pilot has been extended for a further year, meaning advice, guidance and support can keep reaching local communities across the Bradford district. 👏

Free sessions are now running twice a month, one face-to-face (rotating between constituencies) and one online, each lasting 30 minutes.

Whether you're setting up a new group or strengthening an existing one, no question is too big or too small.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 is now open for applications.
It's funding local organisations across the SGN, Northern Gas Networks and Wales and West Utilities network areas to deliver energy safeguarding and wellbeing support in their communities.

Grassroots organisations play a huge role in helping people stay safe and warm at home, especially those who don't engage with national campaigns or don't know where to turn for support.

Since 2021, energy prices have almost doubled, and as of early 2026 around 6.7 million households across the UK are living in fuel poverty.

Nearly half of low-income households are stuck in homes that are hard to heat, leaving millions dealing with cold, damp conditions that damage their physical and mental health.

You can apply for 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 £𝟖,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐚𝐧𝐝 £𝟏𝟒,𝟎𝟎𝟎 to deliver support between 1 September 2026 and 31 May 2027.

The scheme is particularly focused on helping people stay safe and warm through winter, though the need for advice and support runs all year round.

Funded organisations will help their communities with:
👉 Current information on staying safe and warm at home
👉 Support with energy and income maximisation
👉 Signing up to the Priority Services Register where eligible
👉 Awareness of carbon monoxide risks and how to reduce them
👉 Reducing stress and improving wellbeing at a time of real need
👉 Access to emergency funding, crisis support and energy funding schemes

Successful applicants also get energy advice training and resources, plus quarterly online networking events to share learning with others delivering the scheme.

The Bingley Bubble has a significant older population, bringing valuable skills, experience and knowledge to our communities.
Yet many people face health challenges, caring responsibilities or a lack of flexible opportunities that can make employment harder to access.

As the workforce changes, creating age-friendly pathways into work isn't just good for individuals. It's good for employers and local communities too.

𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬. 𝐀 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.

Thrive-Care is a project led by Dr Theresa Onaji-Benson, Assistant Professor in Business Ethics and CSR at the University of Bradford.
It explores what it means to live, care for one another and truly belong in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious city.

The project is looking for communities willing to take part. Two individuals from each community will be invited to share their story through video and portraiture at the end of May. Their experiences will then be brought to life at a free showcase event in mid-July, celebrating Bradford through food, conversation and community.

Participants will receive a digital copy of their video and portrait, and will have access to the research findings.

The VCSE Big Meet 2026 brought together 96 people, including Chairs, Trustees, Leaders and VCSE colleagues, for a day of connection, insight and discussion.
Based on the feedback, we would say the event was a huge success!

Now it's time to look ahead. For the past couple of years the VCSE Big Meet has taken place in April, but in 2027 it will move later into the year, towards September.

🎥New six-video series showcases Healthy Working Life in action

The series looks at the range of support available and the difference it is making to people, communities and workplaces, from helping young people into sustainable work, to structured exercise programmes, personalised employment and health support, creative wellbeing sessions, community-based help, and workplace health checks delivered by healthcare students.

Together, the videos show how the right support at the right time can help people build confidence, improve their wellbeing and move closer to their work goals, whatever stage they are at.

Healthy Working Life is a joint programme from the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership ICB.

The video series is done by Kirklees ICB but the approach and lessons are relevant to workplaces everywhere.
