Sandbottle Creation Activity at AMEC today was lead by Rasmita Mistry

Today on this glorious sunny day at AMEC, members took part in a creative activity to make colourful sand bottles. The activity was explained along with the meaning of colours.

Red: Signals passion, SHAKTI, energy, urgency and danger, bravery

Blue: Promotes calm, trust, peace, and security.

Yellow: Conveys happiness, hope, and optimism. Wisdom, knowledge

Green: Represents nature, growth, and health. New life, harmony

Orange - sacrifices, Agni, purity, detachment

The idea of the Sand Art kit is to place a small funnel in the opening of a bottle and slowly add a little bit of sand. You can add different colors of sand to have different layers and make unique design.Toothpick/spoons was used to move the sand around inside the bottle. After the bottle was filled it was sealed with a cork to keep the sand in from spilling out.

Concentration, teamwork, patience, colourful ideas flowing with the powder โ€“ literally. Felt like being at school with all the powders๐Ÿ™‚

You can see how proud everyone is of their finished sand bottles.

This was then followed by a much-needed peaceful meditation session by Shivaliben from Inner Space.

Just wanted to say also a massive thank you to all our volunteers and our creative team: Kalaben, Rasmitaben, Dakshaben & Priya for their invaluable support today.๐Ÿ™

AMEC Private Event at The Beacon, Wibsey Park
Sunday 2nd August 2026

AMEC held a special event for our members at The Beacon, Wibsey Park, with the support of Bradford Culture Company.

It was a day dedicated entirely to our AMEC members. Bradford Culture Company kindly arranged 2 minibuses to transport members to Wibsey Park.

A huge thank you to Priya and Ramesh for organising this event from start to finish in just 4 weeks.
Thank you to Nicky for leading the beautiful garba and bhajans.

Huge thanks to Raj, Ushma & Mits from Peacock Bar, Bingley for providing the delicious food and drinks.

The day was filled with amazing music, singing, and wonderful energy. It was brilliant to see everyone get up and join in with the garba.

Thank you to everyone who helped make today run so smoothly. We couldnโ€™t have done it without you.

A special thank you to Ramesh Uncle and Harkishan Uncle for being my partners in crime and for guiding me throughout the past month.

Raksha Bandhan Activity at AMEC Today

Today at AMEC, members took part in a creative activity to make Rakhi's / friendship bracelets in preparation for Raksha Bandhan.

Our creative team explained the activity and the materials we would be using to create these beautiful rakhi's.

Members embraced the session and got stuck right in. A lot of fine motor and eye coordination skills were put to the test whilst threading beads, tying knots, and designing their rakhis and friendship bands.

You can see how proud everyone are of their finished creations.

A big thank you to our creative team: Reshmaben, Kalaben, Rasmitaben, Dakshaben & Priya for all their support and help today.

Namaste Everyone, what a wonderful AMEC session at the Shree Prajapati Mandir.

The hall at St Wilfrid's was being used for a wedding and with the kind support of Vice President Girish Mistry we booked the Prajapati hall.

The feeling and vibrations created during the arti and Bhajan's upstairs in the mandir was heart warming.

With the large kitchen area we were treated by our great kitchen team to bajia's and puri, which is not possible at St Wilfrid's.

We also had time to celebrate a surprise 65th Wedding Anniversary of Dineshbhai and Shantaben.

A huge Thanks to one of our most generous members Jayantibhai and Urmilaben for donating the food today. As I said him " you will be remembered for you open heart and generosity.

I think we are all feeling very happy today. ๐Ÿ™

Message from Natasha Elizabeth Brown.

Today marked the final session of our wonderful project, bringing together everyone from St Wilfrid's Church and the Anand Milan Elderly Centre for a special trip to The Hepworth Wakefield.

Over the past few weeks, we've shared a series of creative workshops inspired by the incredible work of Mrinalini Mukherjee, creating beautiful macramรฉ wall hangings and community bunting together. Today, we had the chance to visit the exhibition that inspired it all, before ending the day with group singing, and a delicious lunch.

It has been a joy to see people connect, create, and build new friendships through art and culture. Thank you to Bradford Culture Company for making this project possible, and to everyone who took part for making it such a memorable experience. ๐Ÿ’›

Massive thanks to Natasha, Ric, Priya, Samina
