Faithworks Wessex

Faithworks Wessex Faithworks Wessex helps people across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset; connect with their community, better manage their money and cope when in food crisis.

We believe that the Christian faith is not just about being in a place of worship on Sundays, but it is also about putting that faith into action for the benefit of others. Faithworks Wessex started life as Faithworks Poole, founded in 2004 by two visionaries. One – the Rev Jonathan Martin – was Chaplain to the Borough of Poole as well as the minister of a local church, and the other – Jeff Russel

l – was Principal Officer Adult Social Services in Poole. Both were very aware of people in need in the local community but also saw the passion and potential of individuals and churches to meet those needs, if an appropriate way of doing it could be found. Taking their inspiration from the national Faithworks Movement and Charter, the two men set up a registered charity that would have the credibility of independence from any particular church or denomination at the same time as attracting the support of a wide range of churches and individuals. The early work quickly established a reputation for reliability, flexibility and genuine care for those being supported, a reputation that has continued over the nine years since its founding.
