I dont think scientists have cats... I think they have dogs ... there ive said it! Why? All i see are statements like this from so called scientists ( who have obviously never met a cat in their life 🙄)

'cats don't meow to each other, so when cats meow to us, it means they realise we are a species that communicates vocally (as opposed to reading body language and scents), and they're trying to talk to us on our terms ' Utter b*LL**ks!

Come to my house lad, its like a nonstop episode of Eastenders here. Every single one of our cats 'talks' to the others. Yes they have their own funny little BRRRRUUUPPPP as they spicy bum zoomy round the house, yelling it like teenagers once ran round yelling Wassssuuuupppp. And yes they have the old faithful ... Mmmrruummph as they drop down from the sofa, dressing table or wardrobe... its as if they're deflating as they drop down. And don't forget the machine gun akakak at prey. BUT they also have chirrups and meows just for humans AND meows just for each other.

Nellie Tedds loves to just talk ... but all the tabbies never freaking shut up. I honestly feel ive gone deaf if I can't hear one if them chattering at another. Callie, Jaquobi, Shiggy and Shintaro literally call out for one another... the call to arms goes out from one and they all come a running.
Maybe its because I have a colony of ex ferals/wild born or maybe its because I have 19 cats of which there are 6 sets of siblings or just maybe cats actually do communicate verbally as well as body language 🤔

🐾 The Sunday Paws 🐾

Little baby Sid and Frankie! They were found together at a food handling business/farm, and the owner was unfortunately threatening to shoot them unless Cat English got them ASAP. Thank goodness she did.

Butter wouldn’t melt in this picture but oh my goodness, never known spitting and grumbling and thumping like it. Feral little beasts! A while world away now ❤️

They had three people come to view them who all decided they were too shy as they wanted lap cats. Then we realised it was a sign they were forever meant to stay where they were 🐱

🐾 The Sunday Paws 🐾

Been hot this week hasn’t it my loves?? Layla decided to lie in the sink all day last Tuesday.

Did it cool her down? Meh a bit.

Did it drastically inconvenience her humans as they had to wash their hands in the bath? Very much so.

Did it stress Wasabi as he couldn’t find her and she couldn’t be bothered showing even her little paws out of the side of the sink so he ran about the house crying until we lifted him up to see her and she shot him a stare that said “don’t you dare come near me in this heat”? You bet!

We are currently looking for raffle donations and auction prizes for our upcoming Ladies Lunch in June, along with other fundraising events throughout the year.

Any donation, big or small, would be hugely appreciated and would help us continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need. 💖

Gift vouchers, experiences, hampers, beauty treatments, meals, products or services — every contribution helps us raise much-needed funds for the shelter.

If you would like to support us, please send us an email to [email protected] 🥰

Please also tag your favourite local businesses below to see if they may be able to help support our cause. Your shares and recommendations mean so much to us! 🙏

Thank you for supporting the animals at Destitute Animal Shelter 🐾

🐾 BATTLE OF THE LICKABLE TREATS! 🐾

We know how much our rescue kitties (and your spoiled furbabies at home!) absolutely lose their minds for creamy liquid treats. They are fab for taming shy rescues, hiding crushed medication, or just bonding with a new arrival.
But with so many options on Amazon, which box gives you the most bang for your buck, and which is better for health?

Let's break down Hey Kitty Kat (60 Pack) vs. Webbox Lick-e-Lix (50 Pack)! I've chosen those two as my cats won't eat other versions like Dreamies or Luna.

🔍 Digging into the Ingredients: Which is best?

🧡 Webbox Lick-e-Lix Webbox is a UK staple and a firm favorite in the rescue world because cats love the taste. It's grain-free, contains no artificial colors or preservatives, and has no added sugar. It's also officially kitten-friendly!

However, like many mainstream supermarket treats, it relies heavily on "meat and animal derivatives" rather than high percentages of fresh, named meats.

In the pet food world, "meat and animal derivatives" is a legal umbrella term used on ingredient labels in the UK and Europe. It essentially means animal by-products from the human food industry. That doesn't mean bad things ... it means vet inspected Offal: Heart, liver, kidneys, lungs, and spleen. Other parts: Connective tissue, cartilage, and trimmings left over after the prime fillets and chicken breasts are removed for supermarket shelves.

🌸 Hey Kitty Kat

This brand takes the crown for premium nutrition. With a massive 45% fresh meat and fish content, it offers much better quality protein. Even better, it's packed with functional health supplements: Taurine (essential for cat heart and eye health), Omega-3 (for a glossy coat), Probiotics (great for sensitive rescue tummies), and Collagen (for joints).

🏆 The Verdict: Which should you buy?

Buy whatever works best for you and your cats.
Choose WEBBOX if... you have a very fussy cat who loves liver sausage, or you want a well-known, reliable staple that is guaranteed to please a crowd of kittens.

Choose HEY KITTY KAT if... you want the best value and health boost! Even with the recent Amazon price increase from £14.99 to £16.99, it still beats Webbox on value. You get 10 extra tubes, it's cheaper per sachet (28p vs 32.5p), and it offers a much higher percentage of real fresh meat plus awesome probiotics and taurine—which is incredible for boosting the health of rescues or older cats.

What's the go-to treat in your household? Are your cats team Chicken, team Fish, or team Liver Sausage? Let us know in the comments! 👇👇

I’ll see myself out…

Tulip 🌷 is having time without her cone collar for a few hours because lets face it she's been in one since June 2025 but we need to keep her very busy so that she doesn't fall into the habit of itching and washing her wound.

I found a new cat treat which she loves if I freeze it like an ice pop. I'm going to do a post on them because they have added probiotics and other essentials AND they're cheaper than Webbox Lix I lick 😋. I just freeze them in the packet and cut them out like an ice pop. In this weather its great for them.
