People in Bolton are invited to nominate NHS and healthcare workers who have provided exceptional care in the past twelve months for our annual FABB Awards.

The special night of recognition celebrates the teams and individuals who are making a difference in the lives of Bolton’s communities by improving their health and wellbeing.

The People’s Choice Award is back for 2026, offering an opportunity for patients, relatives, and carers to recognise the individual or team who has made a lasting impact on their lives.

The nominee should have:

🏆 Made a lasting difference: Significantly impacted the life of a patient or family member.

🏆 Provided comfort in difficult times: Helped patients and families through challenging moments with compassion and care.

🏆 Delivered exceptional care: Demonstrated extraordinary care that went above and beyond expectations.

Nominations will close at 5pm on Friday 3 July 2026.

I joined the May meet up of Bolton’s The
Worst Girl Gang Ever. Unique stories - common threads. The most recurring theme throughout everyone’s experiences of loss or infertility is a sense of powerlessness. I really appreciated everyone’s welcome, honesty and courage.

NEW SCAN RECEPTION AREA (Temporary)

The set up for maternity scan has changed a bit again. As the refurbishment is happening on a live site, everything is kind of rotating about as they work on each area.

I’m told this set up is for 12 months. You may only notice anything has changed if you’ve had previous scans at Bolton, either earlier on in pregnancy or in previous pregnancies.

On Tuesday 5 May, we're celebrating our incredible midwifery teams for International Day of the Midwife 👶

Did you have a baby at Royal Bolton Hospital? If so, we would love to hear about and share your stories and messages of thanks to our midwives.

Every single day they help to deliver newborns into the world, whilst supporting families on their journeys.

HEADS UP!

Don’t shoot the messenger (the messenger gets parking fines too). With the maternity car park being half out of action, I (and many of you) will be looking for alternative car parking at Bolton Hospital.

Look out for these little signs saying ‘authorised parking only beyond this point’ - they are in amongst the public car parks, for example here’s Bridge Car Park which IS a visitor car park… apart from about 50 off spaces at the end. If you park in those spaces without having a permit you’ll get a fine from Parking Eye. (Ask me how I know this).

Around 10am on Tuesday this week there wasn’t a space to be found anywhere and we were all gridlocked in the car parks so I know there will be some people who’ve been caught out by this, even if they’ve paid for parking. I think this will even apply to neonatal parents who have a parking pass (check with NICU).

I wish this was a situation I could help to change but I can’t.
