Climate change is already shaping our communities — and local leadership is one of the most powerful ways we can respond.

This one-day Carbon Literacy training is designed for community leaders across Bolton who want to turn knowledge into real, practical action.

Across the session you’ll:

Understand the basic science of climate change 🌡️
Explore how it impacts Bolton and local communities 🌍
Learn practical actions you can take as a leader 🌱
Build a personal and community carbon reduction plan ✍️
Discover ways to influence and support others to act 🤝

Carbon Literacy is the UK’s leading low-carbon learning programme, with over 157,000 people certified worldwide and growing.

🌿 The Green Spaces Fund is now open for 2026 applications! 🌿

Community groups across Greater Manchester can apply for grants between £2,000 - £40,000 to create and improve accessible, nature-rich green spaces where they’re needed most.

Launched by Andy Burnham in 2022, the fund has already invested over £4 million into 122 community-led projects across the city region — from orchards and green alleyways to allotments and community gardens.

So far, the programme has helped create over 28,000m² of new green space and improve nearly 400,000m² of existing green space. 🌱

Say hi to Karen Smith from Turn Up the Value, the organisation behind the Eco Toolkit, supported by Caroline Tosal-Supru 👋🌍

Together, they’re creating The Eco Toolkit — a free sustainability support package designed with and for Bolton’s VCSE sector.

Over the past few months, organisations across the borough have helped co-design practical, accessible resources that make sustainability easier to understand and put into action.

The toolkit will include:
✔ Self-assessment tools
✔ Audits and checklists
✔ Quick wins
✔ Action planning templates
✔ Monitoring tools
✔ Training and mentoring opportunities
✔ Resource hubs with local and national support links
