ATC Sunday

Yesterday, our cadets took part in the annual ATC Sunday Parade, with 2026 marking the 85th Birthday of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, with this ceremony being held at St George's Church in Stockport.

It consisted of a lively church service, in which all cadets commited to the Promise, and some prayers to keep us going through our journeys. Following on we marched along the A6, capturing the public's eyes with our blue uniforms.

A massive thank you to the 10 cadets that came to represent squadron, and the Wing in this awesome parade!

Tonight our cadets had a very merry evening helping Santa in his quest to fix his broken sleigh! He had lost 4 parts which needed to be found quickly and well, and so our cadets set out on four different activities in hunt for these items, dubbed ‘Operation Tinseltown’.
Firstly they had to use compasses to navigate around the area and find his lost Magic Compass!
Then they had to find his long lost Magic Hat which allows him to fly! This was done through a series of grid references using maps to navigate their way around questions which gave clues to its whereabouts.
Thirdly, they had to answer questions about Christmas songs and find the pieces to his Flight Stick
And finally they used all their cadet and military knowledge, and stealthy guided their way around the Elves Hidden Workshop only communicating through radios and hand signals, all in hunt of Santa’s Special Radio.
All in all, the cadets had a wonderful time helping out our jolly friend and all was well as all item where eventually found!!!

Recently, our cadets have been partaking in a multitude of interesting activities. Initially, they were introduced to a new STEM activity called VEX robotics through a very interesting presentation. The cadets learnt what VEX robotics was and how it was done and how they would be able to build, code and compete with their own robot as a squadron in competitions!
Our cadets have also recently done a band evening! This introduced all aspects of music within the corp to our cadets and allowed them to explore and find their own interest in all things musical! They had opportunities to do Band Drill, Snare drumming, Brass instruments like trumpet, trombones and more! This is only a fraction of what is done at 80 Bolton Squadron and it was amazing!

On Sunday the Squadron took part in the annual Wing Training Day hosted at The Avro Heritage Musuem.
The day consists of many competitions from First Aid to Archery and a Shooting competition held beforehand.
We would like to thank all the cadets who took part in the day and helped to represent the Squadron and show it off at it's best!

We came 17th overall out of 32 Squadrons across the wing!

A fantastic effort by all!
Thank you to our volunteer Team Manager for the day, Squadron Leader Mehta, for his experience making sure our teams got to where they needed to be and at the right time!

Now is the time to start preparing for next year!
